the first part al says downstroke with a tap... what exactly is a tap when you're strumming... i cant work this out

I'm not sure about your question but maybe it's just the hit he's doing with his fingers over the top.

He says downstroke and a tap, but i dont get it.

I guess he's talking about the hit he's doing with his fingertips (mostly the middle and the ring finger) while the thumb is strumming. Hope the picture explains a little



Also, I paste here the text of that section since on my screen I can see just the first text line.

"This technique is very difficult to play with the tap, so you can also play it in exactly the same way, its just you don't tap when you go down with the thumb."
