GMC Forum _ Electronic Entertainment _ Rockband Or Guitar Hero

Posted by: MickeM Mar 2 2009, 04:51 PM

I know Rockband 2 is out but I can't seem to find it around here. I'm not sure it will sell here at all any time soon. I've heard that Rockband two has superior instruments but what to do...

So, for me and kids - 5 and 8 yrs (and a 2 yrs old) which one to get? And any special game disc???

Thanks for any advice you can give biggrin.gif

EDIT: I should mention that it's for Wii
Could make it for XBOX360 is there's a big difference.

I played RockBand 1 once, i thought it sucked compared to GH.
partly because of the square notes instead of GH's round notes, i could barely see if i hit the notes right or not.
Also all rockband hardware was bad.

I don't know what changed in RockBand 2 though, i did hear the hardware got better..

Another important thing to check is offcourse the tracklists.

And choice between xbox or Wii, i would go for xbox if its not a problem.
Wii has weird guitar controllers (that need a wiimote to go in), and xbox has better graphics, and i think sound aswell.

I used to play a LOT guitar hero 1,2,3 & 80s. Such an excellent game. Haven't tried rock ban or the new GH with more intruments though, but I bet GH is still awesome.

The tracklist is really important, check them out, that might very well make you decide one way or the other.

I voted guitar hero, it is a very fun and cool game to play with friends, so I recommend it! smile.gif

I voted Guitar Hero, if you mean Guitar Hero World Tour. Only because Guitar Hero World Tour has cymbals on it's drumkit.

I've played both, and I prefer Rock Band. The whole Band instead of just guitar makes things much more interesting, not to mention I actually like the guitar from Rock Band more than Guitar Hero anyways. The only downside is that I really don't like the song choices for Rock Band, Guitar Hero was a little better, but still far from what I would have chosen. dry.gif Oh, well, it's still fun to give your non-muso friends a chance to rock out with you! laugh.gif

P.S. I've only played the first of each, though... I didn't even know there were sequels! blink.gif laugh.gif

You obviously never heard what an elecreic guitar and a set of drums sound like in the hands of a 6 and an 8 year old wink.gif

My kid just got Rockband 2 for the Wii . For the Wii platform, Rockband 2 is better than GH because of the instrument and song selection for younger kids. Rockband 2 does not require using the wii remote in the instruments - thats GH only.

The instruments are good. From a musician standpoint, I don't know if any of these games can teach anything but timing, but for young ones, its better than letting them play my $2000 Les Paul.
