GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ When Did You Guys Started Sweeping

Posted by: smrt173 Nov 4 2007, 02:52 PM

Im just curious... when did you guys started actually practising how to sweep. It's a very difficult learning process and do you guys start like a year after you first started guitar?

im interested to try out the lessons but i dont know when to start

I started around 6 months into my first year of playing, it's very annoying in the beginning since it's very tough at first, but I'm starting to get the hang of it.

I started sweeping (seriosly) 4 years after I start playing guitar, hehhee. It's lot of time, I know, but that's true biggrin.gif

I started after 1 year of playing electric guitar.

I've been playing about 10 months now, and I started about a month ago. I'm getting the hang of it a little thanks to Pavel. wink.gif

Only started now, 3 years into playing lol!!

Ive been playing for 11 months now, i started practicing sweeping just 3 or 4 months after i grabbed the guitar. I can say ive improved alot, its the technique i practice most and i can sweep decently: a bit of fast and a bit of clean. smile.gif

about a month ago..been playing 3 years ish.

Posted by: Soul_Decision Nov 5 2007, 08:42 AM

A month after I first started.

Never even attempted it or even understood what it was until 7 years after i had been playing blink.gif biggrin.gif This is a technique i really want to master since lead and shred guitar are my main interest's,but i have held off from practicing this because i want to master my other area's of playing first so go at it perfect without bad habbits. Also it takes so much time and dedication that at this time i dont have available yet sad.gif

I started pavels sweep lessons roughly 3 months in. But I spent so much time on those i neglected alternate picking for a while - shame on me!! laugh.gif

I belive I'm gonna beat you guys...

I've started sweeping about a month ago when I joined GMC , and I'm doing Pavel 3 stings lesson (only the 3 strings part) at 70bpms.

But then again, I play guitar for about 14 years. Just never gave much attention to all those techniques, thus why I've joined GMC laugh.gif

Started sweeping late last year, around November '06. Been practicing it at least an hour every day since then, And i think im doing fairly good now smile.gif

Posted by: Pavel Nov 6 2007, 06:55 AM

I see a lot of people referring to my lessons - thanks guys! I'm glad they are helping you out with that awesome technique! Also - you can see that those sweeping basics and other sweeping lessons are my first 3 lessons at GMC biggrin.gif Quality of video sucks but those 3 were the hardest to make just because i was new to the whole thing smile.gif

Keep sweeping! smile.gif

I agree
Pavel really has helped alot with his sweeping lessons.Funny thing is for so many years i never even new about the technique but always wondered how shred guitarist got that awesome sound.I was always the most educated on guitar out of the people i was around so i never had anybody better than me to learn from.I really wish i did back then and even now.Only people im around that play are very beginner level and i've always had to learn on my own from Tabs ,ear, and just reading about tech.If any of you have a guitarist around you that more advanced you should really take advantage of it cause some of us are stuck with just arselves tongue.gif
