So in a pro audio forum section someone commented he couldn't hear differences specifically with hall reverbs.
I recommended listening to them at the same level, then for the fun of it made these examples (they are all loudness matched). They are different hall presets from various reverb plug-ins. I only tried to match the wet/dry and tail length, so the character differences wouldn't be misunderstood. Let me know if you have a preference too Just download and paste them to your music player. There's also a clean sample for comparison; https://gofile.io/d/vRmiqK List of reverbs and presets I selected in them; Acon Digital Verberate 2; large hall natural Voxengo crtiv reverb 2; Default UVI Sparkverb; Concert ValhallaRoom; Largehall Toneboosters reverb; hall lush reverb Relab lx480; Boston hall A Fabfilter pro-r; Concert hall Sydney Exponential audio Phoenixverb; lge Rear hall Exponential audio R4; Lrg Back hall Eventide Ultrareverb; 480esue large hall This post has been edited by Mertay: Dec 2 2020, 08:45 PM |

They're all very close ... and all really good sounding.
The Eventide was the only one where I actually noticed a difference right away. It's got an early reflection in there that I can perceive. Maybe there's more pre-delay set(?) The Valhalla has the nicest/lushest decay. Any of them would be a great choice for those needing some verb. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

@Mertay ...
Your ears are way more trained than mine when it comes to recording fx! This may be only in the States but Valhalla is giving away 3 plugins. They don't design many, I think only nine and they are primarily reverbs and they never discount - everything is always $50. If you scroll down, you'll see three that are listed as 'Free'. Space Mod, Freq Echo and Super Massive. Completely unannounced. https://valhalladsp.com/ This post has been edited by klasaine: Dec 4 2020, 05:47 PM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

... I was actually looking if he'd make a discount to alarm friends but we can say he's generous when it comes to providing freeware. Pretty amazing, he's just a single man company (to my knowledge) yet even a software giant like izotope is trying to cut his sales by giving insane discounts. These are the discounts; https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Ef...-Reverb/5231-R4 https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Ef...enixVerb-Stereo So I still stand-by my comment on a previous topic we discussed reverbs, would be perfectly felt secured if only owned valhalla stuff at this point! but being a nerd (specially when I'm bored, and this covid era is really boring ) I keep my eyes open for options when available |

I think I'm going to get the Valhalla Plate. I really love the 'plate' texture around a note.
I don't really do anything where I need huge reverbs (or delays). In fact everything I record here at home for other people - all they want is my 'dry' sound, no effects. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine
