idk if anyone heard about this game but it just came out yesterday and it looks pretty cool. its like guitar hero but with added drums bass n vocals. i also think its cool because u cant start a band on xbox live.
Posted by: PacmanProductions Nov 21 2007, 09:14 PM
ehh... from what ive seen, theres no hammer-ons or pull-offs, the bass drum pedal sticks, and the vocals screw up alot...

Damn, really? People should start playing with real instruments instead

Why playing fake instruments when you can play real ones, i mean, i have much more fun playing a real instrument than a fake video game instrument, but thats just me, i think people play these fake stuff because it makes them sounds like they re good...

I was never interested in "Guitar Hero" or any of these type of games; I figured why would I want to play a pretend guitar when I can play my real one. Some friends of mine from work had a get-together a few weeks ago, and out came the XBox and Guitar Hero (none of these friends play guitar...they are all computer geeks). So I got down off my high-horse long enough to give it a try...
I had a blast with it! Sure playing a real guitar kicks ass on any type of video game, but in this instance I have to admit that I really had a lot of fun. Of course, I went home that night and started learning some of the same songs on my real guitar.

idk i could play on songs on hard the first time i played guitar hero its not that hard if you play real guitar and its entertaining in its own way. most people that play guitar hero find it appealing because they love video games and they love playing guitar. probably only 10% of the people ive played against dont play real guitar. why do you guys diss on guitar hero so much lol

Well that's a dumb argument Gen. Why play games like Hitman when you can just go out and do it in real life? Why play drag racing games when you can do it in real life? People play music based games because they're fun, plain and simple. Believe it or not some people don't want to make the commitment of actually taking years to learn an instrument. Be a little more open minded eh?

Yeah that's true, although it's way cooler to be able to play a real instrument, be a real hitman etc.

Just because instead of playing both guitar hero and real guitar, you could just focus on real guitar, it will probably bring you more, and as much fun as guitar hero
I actually play some video games, but i cant play a guitar video game without thinking that i better have to play real guitar. (well, its the same thing with other video games
but still..) I just dont see the point to play fake instruments.... that is just MY opinion.

pretty fun, that made my day
you cannot comparate music with killing( wich is the main goal in hitman), its just ridiculous...and for the racing games, well..i doubt that everyone could do it in real life...music is just much more accessible.
I believe that some people dont want to take years to learn an instrument, but what i wanted to say its just that instead of wasting all those hours on fake instruments, they could have reached a huge level on real ones....im not telling anyone what to do, as long as they have fun, its cool....as i said, it is just MY opinion.

As guitar enthusiasts, perhaps we could endulge in trying to introduce the idea of practicing for real to friends and family who already play these types of games?
Of course we cant and wouldnt want to try and force someone to give up guitar hero or whatever, but we could definatly give some gentle persuasion ? Maybe even introduce them to GMC!!

Drag racing is something that is very expensive, difficult to achieve and dangerous, but anyone have access to musical instruments wich can be bought at real low prices. It sure is hard to become the best with a musical instrument, but that doesnt matter at all, noone is best and noone cares about who is the best in music. You learn so much more with a real instrument than with a stupid game.
But of course, if people wanna play it, thats ok, but I think its really pointless when you can experience and achieve so much more on a real instrument instead.

Why is it that ive been playing guitar 5 years, and absolutely suck at Guitar Hero Games?
real guitar skills dont count i guess....

+1
I have nothing against the game, because it does make some kids start real guitar, i know someone on this site started that way. But for the rest who just play it for hours with no thought of ever playing a real guitar that is fine, just says a bit about them.

Your off-base about my point. I'm just using Hitman as an example, but people try and make this argument all the time. When you say playing rock band or guitar hero is stupid because you can just play real ones, you have to argue that with every videogame. Guitar hero type games get bad raps, do you ever hear anyone say "Stop playing Madden, just go and play real football"! True it is the real thing but it is a different experience all together. But like you said, if it makes the person just as happy playing Guitar hero than real guitar, what's the problem?
Posted by: Gen Nov 22 2007, 03:39 AM
there s not ANY problem, i just said what i thought about it, i never told people to do what i say, i said that they could have been really good at guitar if they have spent all these hours on it, it was only my opinion, nothing more...i said what i thought about these kind of games , period. If they enjoy, thats good for them..i think you re getting mad for nothing well, enough said, everyone should enjoy doing what they like to do, thats all.

Personally, I like games like Guitar Hero because you don't need much practice to enjoy it with friends, compared to a normal guitar.
For instance, you and your friend are playing Guitar Hero together, and you're having a ton of fun because you're around the same skill level, even though he's been playing a while longer than you.
Now think about this. Say you and your friend are jamming, and you've been playing guitar for 2 weeks, and he's been playing for a year. Are you really going to have that much fun?

You are right, i agree with you on that point.
If the goal is to enjoy playing the game with friends, i dont see the problem, as long as they have fun.
I may have explained myself wrong, i dont know...i wasnt pointing anyone with a shotgun saying "You will stop playing that game or i ll shoot you!"
and i am sorry if i sounded like that or if i offended anyone, it wasnt on purpose.
What i meant is:
Let's say someone starts to play guitar hero, the guy starts to practice a little bit and then, plays tons of songs and spends tons of hours with some friends(and alone), just enjoying it.
After two months, he reaches an incredible level of playing, he starts to posts covers of songs he played on youtube(like i ve seen many times
) and gets awesome comments on his awesome playing, he ll keep spending many hours per day on the game because he thinks he s good..(and also because actually, video games are pretty addictive, i know what im talkin about, i can easily name all the characters you have on your desktop
).
What do you think if he would have buy a real guitar ( just a cheap one ) and spent all those hours on it? he probably would have had a lot of fun too, okay, maybe not as much as guitar hero, since you need more that 5 days to get good
, but he would have learned something that might be useful for him later, both fun and learning in the same time, isnt that great?
( LOL, i sound like a teacher
)
I actually took the example of the guy im talkin bout on a friend of mine, who is addicted to that game( i wont post any links to his Guitar hero vids
he may be the guest who's watching the thread
he would kill me).
Now he wants to start real guitar, the good point is that the game made him want to start playing guitar,
he always says me "Grr, what if i would have spend all that time and money on a real guitar..?".. BUT... he probably wouldnt have the will to start real guitar without the game.
I guess i have to say it has some good points then.
The number of people who start to play because of the game isnt that great though..Gilbert didnt need guitar hero to start real guitar
anyways,
My main thought was just that people spend too much time on it, and in my opinion, they could learn to play real music instead of it. It is just what I think about it. Everyone thinks different
Edit : Typo

hey GH and rock band are fun games...but i agree that playing the real thing is a much better accomplishment than beating Jordan on expert
Posted by: Ayen Nov 23 2007, 03:46 AM
Agreed, while Guitar Hero may be fun right now, and playing with friends and having a lot more fun might be easier to achieve, in the long run you're much better off playing real guitar.
We also forget that Guitar Hero is a video game, and like all video games, it should be taken in moderation.
Also, while it may be tons of fun, there's no variety in it. With real guitar, that's completely different. Everyone has his own style, in Guitar Hero, you can only play what they give you.
As for people who play games over going out and having a social life, that's an addiction, I realized that after WoWarcraft almost had me lose all my friends.
