Do you ever practice smacking your acoustic like a drum? I really like its percussive quality and it's fun too. I'd like to know how you guys smack around on the old guitar.

I really like it how this guy uses the percussive quality of the guitar:

Not really like a drummer, but he sure uses it for great rhythm biggrin.gif

Never tried it myself, but I love watching percussive guitar playing.

I really enjoyed each of those videos. Those guitars sound so nice and crisp and boomy. With this style of playing your keeping the beat while making melody. One day I will have to practice this style. Thanks for sharing those

For certain! I love this style and as favorite players, I would mention Michael Dawes smile.gif

Your video looks like a good start smile.gif You can use the guitar box in its entirety, as each part can provide distinct percussive sounds - and also, you should analyze drum grooves and see how to implement them in this sort of playing - replace the snare with a chord, for instance biggrin.gif

I find percussive guitar style beautiful. It sounds very nice and it has been a great new thing for guitar in the last years. There are lots of percussive guitarist nowadays creating great music.

For the ones that would like to explore this technique, we have some good lessons here:

I would daresay that they are pretty much the new guitar heroes, simply because what they do is different and more melodic rather then the shredding you will see in 90% of the cases of guitarists trying to come up as solo artists.
