The good news - as SJ says it has an accredited under graduate degree (above) that is ratified by UEL - an English University. If this is the course that you are enrolled on then it may allay your father's concerns. The bad news - There are a little over 100 Universities in the UK - here's the list for England and ICMP is not on it. ICMP is not a University and doesn't claim to be one. To be one it must have had that status awarded to it under the terms of the F&HE Act 1992. Furthermore ICMP offers no postgraduate/higher degrees nor does it undertake higher level research. It does not have the infrastructure associated with a University in terms of library, research facilities, breadth of subjects/courses. It is not able to award its own degrees. Nor does it appear to have sufficient academic faculty with higher degrees. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. ... @Tony I saw the adress and it says University East London and talks about the institute being a campus, isn't that associated to an university? Many UK Universities have multiple campuses but normally they would make it clear that they are a geographic wing of a University. Most are multi campus because they either outgrew their original site some time ago or have chosen to broaden their geographic reach or have chosen to site a specialist wing off campus. Nottingham University for instance has its main campus in the city plus a newer campus a few miles distant. University of Durham has its Queen's campus at Stockton. University of Cambridge has it's specialist Management School located separate to the main campus. Despite these reasons a campus remains an integral part of the University and any campus would almost certainly always carry the title 'University' somewhere in its title. Universities are very aware of how marketable and important the title 'University' is in branding and positioning. To turn the question on its head - what are the campuses recognised as integral parts of UEL by UEL. UEL name them as 'Docklands', 'Duncan House' and 'Stratford' - ICMP is not mentioned. In the case of ICMP it runs an undergraduate degree ratified by UEL. Someone who graduates from this would be awarded a UEL degree. This sort of associated partner model has been used by UK Universities for many years. An ex-girlfriend of mine many years ago went to a teacher training college that was associated with a University and her degree was ratified by that University. She did not however study at that University and the college was not part of the University's designated campus. In a similar way we (my media training company) run courses ratified by a German University. That doesn't however mean that I am a member of staff of that University or that we are a campus of it. Our training isn't integral to their core operation - what we have is a rolling five year contract to provide a particular service in return for ratification. Anyway I wouldn't worry about it as it's mainly semantics. The important bit is that the degree is ratified by a recognised University and it is. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. Isn't this where Emir and Pedja studied?
Best of luck! I've heard nothing but good things about this school, and wanna take either the Guitar, Songwriting or Technology course one day =) I have nothing more to add since most of the information in this topic is new to me as well. But I guess Pedja or Emir has a lot of information about how things are done there -------------------- GMC is not just a website... It's a lifestyle!

First I will answer that it is university !!! Their building is not the building where the university is located but they are part of "The University of East London" which is well known in that area. Their program is validated by that university and your degree will be stamped by the The University of East London when you finish your 3 years program. You can't possibly get Bmus title if it wasn't an university. You could have gone to the university main building and enroll there but your lessons would be in the ICMP building anyway. I hope this made it clear.
