Finishing stuff deadlined for tomorrow, was my vote..
Done that a few times biggrin.gif

Both studying and finishing stuff deadlined for tomorrow. Lets just say my grades went downhill when I started playing the guitar, it takes even more time than the WoW playing before it did. However, I feel good about the guitar taking more time, so I don't really mind.

Probably pulling a sick day to finish off some recording that I`d been doing the day/night before, could have ticked socialising with real people as well,

hmm though question , but I remember studying for my exams in a "tour" bus going to a gig smile.gif Like I couldn't do it before smile.gif

Breathing, When I play really fast and long runs I hold my breath so I can make more room for notes in the air laugh.gif

Definately socialising with real people for me, and it is something i still do! lol

But thats the price we pay for wanting more out of guitar than just a hobby.

Even Tony Macalpine said in an interview when he was younger, he had to give up going to parties or doing afterschool projects, or hanging out with friends. If you are going to be passionate about the guitar there are sacrificies that have to be made now, in order for something to come of it later.

I still believe that, there are times when i am working on something particularly difficult for me i will disappear from the world for a week and "Woodshed" it so i can learn to do it. Once i do, the feel i get from the accomplishment is worth the short time away from family and friends.

My answer too, but for the reason I used to tense up when things got hard, and when I tense up I don't breathe properly. I'm getting a lot better at relaxing now so I'm still breathing. smile.gif

Posted by: Vasilis Jun 13 2008, 10:06 AM

I was generally a good student. When I picked the guitar I failed to pass the final exams in math and chemistry and had to take the exams again in september or else i would Lose the whole year biggrin.gif tongue.gif

I always used to play guitar and forget about sleeping. Not a good idea eventually biggrin.gif

Oh lots of stuff, telephone rings and I KNOW it's y girl but I don't pick it up until I finish practice. That's liek terrible but guitar is guitar.

Posted by: Hammerin Hank Jun 13 2008, 04:38 PM

I felt really bad about doing this after but at the time I made the decision to play an out of state show the weekend of my girlfirend's B-day at the last minute. She was less than impressed by my decision but music has always been my life so I think she should've understood. She knew how I operated

back when i was at school I lived in a small dorm room and both my guitars were in the corner on stands.
and the following was commonplace.

*sits down at computer to study*

*looks over at the electric guitar*

"Hey look a guitar!"

(1 hour later)

"Hey look another one!!!"

(2 hours later)

*thinks*

"what was I supposed to be doing?????"

etc.
