Hi, I got some unfinished work, that I would like to add to the Army Album

I got 2 whole songs, and I would like to turn my metal concepts recording to a song.

I got EZdrumer now for better drums, but my local shop has been more than 2½ weeks to get me my Metal Machine expansion.

Hi mate! I checked the three songs and my favourites are the first and the third one. The first one has a cool riff but need some other sections since it repeats the same idea many time. The third one sound really fresh for me, I would pick that one if you want to explore something original that can take us to unexpected results. What do you think?

So, let's start working. What about recording some real guitars to check how it sounds?

Yes, I'm just playing around with EZdrummer right now to get the drums right. You can hear it in just a minute or so

Actually I think the drums made in TUX are not bad, but off course I'll have it much better with EZdrummer.
Unfortunately I just have EZdrummer and no expansions yet. I could use some more metalized drums.
I think the snare needs to be more metallic and in your face.

It is just a small sample, and the drums start at 0:50

In the TUX version I used some triplets on the bass drum, and I changed that in EZdrummer, I haven't decided what to keep

I did another REC take.
I'm not really that excited about it, but I needed to submit it and practice something else for a while.
At least I think my pinch harmonics are better now

I think I'll go back to the triplets on the bass drum.

I added a little bit of guitar to the intro

Hey man! This is turning amazing! I really like that epic introduction and then the guitar riffs with the strings arrangements. I think that you already have two introductions. It's time to create the progression for the verse and chorus. Then we can work a bit more on the arrangements of the sections that you have done. I like the style, it's something fresh for me... cirkus metal?? Sounds great! Let's go for this genre! biggrin.gif

I did a quick search with the words circus metal and this band appeared... this is so weird...

Now that I got EZDrummer and the Metal Machine package, I wanted to finish the drums and make them more metal.

What do you think about the drums, and overall sound levels?

I know the verse part does not make that much sense yet without guitars, bass and singing.
I'll do the verse guitar tomorrow.

And again a new version.

I'm not satisfied with the verse guitar, I might try out other effects.

Those drums sound much better now. It seems that the room is a bit loud but don't worry to much about mix, we will concentrate on that as soon as we have the full song. The guitar distortion could be better, maybe it could be safer to always record a clean signal to allow me reamp it if it's necessary.

I'm not sure what you mean "the room is loud" but I think the bass drum sometimes is too dominating.
I record with GNX4, and it is supposed to be able to record dry signals, and then I should alter them, but I never found out how.

Reaper is now suddenly not making any sound for my drums.
Pro Tracks which I have used a really long time now totally chops my recording to bits and plays it back in a quality, that I so horrible, that I can not record anything new.

I hate, when programs that normally work just stops working. I hate computers. There I said it!

yes! I call it the mystery of computers... tongue.gif Have you tried re-installing Reaper or the Drums Sampler?

If you open EZdrummer mixer, you will find a channel called "room" that works as a condenser mic positioned some meters far from the drums.

I sort of sorted it out, but it is still strange to me.

I changed the drums so theres a little less room. Is it still too much?

I added some extra 2 guitar parts today at 1:05 (first 5 seconds are bad) and 2:36.

Still need to find some good lyrics, and add bass plus solo guitar.

...and sound level needs a boost too.

Hi Ulrik! I like how this is slowly becoming a great tune! The drums sound much better now with less volume. smile.gif

The idea at 1:05 is good, I would add less reverb to the tone and pay attention to some bends that don't reach the correct pitch.

The harmonized guitars at 2:36 sound great!

Keep on working on this one and please keep posting the updates!

It's been to long since I worked on this song.

I still want to change the verse, but have no idea what to put instead.

I added a 1 minute guitar solo at the end, what do you think?
It's got a better tone now, but not perfect yet.
And there are some small timing problems.

I have to take some time for the bass and vocals soon.

Hi Ulrik! I'm glad to have news from you again and also to find this song finished! I like the final result. I think that you should record the bass and then let this one rest for some time and start working on new songs. Then, get back to this one to adjust the parts that you would like to change (like the verse and some solo's licks). You should check my next Vchats in which I'm showing how to compose tracks based on your favorite bands/songs. You will surely find ideas and inspiration on them.

Congrats on this song! As I said it earlier, it sounds very original.

Are you working on technique lessons too?
