Hey guys,

I'm Ricardo from Brazil, but most of my music influences came from Europe and American Heavy Metal. I love brazilian music, but once infected by rock n roll... it is done!

I love some kind of exotic blends, like Rock and Maracatu ( northeast brazilian style, look how powerful it is = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es2re443z4k). My favorite band is Iron Maiden. I like NWOBHM, Progressive, and many kinds of metal...

My father bought me an acoustic guitar when I was 15 (1997), and a bought an old guitar at 18, but I never study guitar seriously. Now I think I have time to study smile.gif

Now I have a Fender Stratocaster and a Jackson Flying V Rhandy Roads.

I never studied with a guitar teacher, so I have many things to learn and get better.

In the link below I recorded an improvised solo, erros included, and I hope you enjoy it! I expect to learn a lot with the instructors and mates!

Hello Ricardo!

My name is Cosmin and I am an instructor here smile.gif First of all - welcome to GMC! I have listened to your recording and I must congratulate you on the nice melodic sense, direction and fluid playing you have shown.

Now, what I think you need to work on a few things in order to polish your skills as much as possible:

- articulation - bending and vibrato, as there are some notes which aren't reaching the intended pitch in your recording and the vibrato is a bit too absent
- the relationship between notes and chords - there are some spots in the improvisation in which the notes you have played don't fit with the harmonic context at all and that makes things sound a bit too off to any ear. I am talking about min 01:09 - 01:12

So, if you wish to start working together, I am inviting you to check out my mentoring program and answer the following questions:

See you around the forum, Ricardo and I am looking forward to your answer!

Hi neighbor! I'm Gab, the guitar instructor from Argentina. Welcome to GMC! smile.gif

You guys really know how to mix your own folk music with powerful styles. I like the link that you shared, and for any reason I connect it a bit with Roots album by Sepultura. I also like how Angra incoporated brazilian rhythms in their first albums and the last months I've been listening to this killer project:

I also checked your improvisation video. You have a good base to start working. There are strong and weak points there that let me discover which things you should work in order to take your guitar playing to a new level. There are nice melodies there but then I notice that there is also a lack of direction in your improvisation. You can play fast alternate picking and legato which is really good, but most of your bends sound out of tune and your vibrato needs to sound more consistent.

The best way to work on these things is creating a diary routine that covers your weak points as well as creativity stuff based on your guitar goals and musical tastes. We are here to help you so just let us know and we will help to develop your guitar plan.

A first idea is that you start with a routine that covers this concepts:

Warming up

Alternate Picking

Legato

Vibrato

Bending

Improvisation/Composition
