I set my Axe Fx rig up on Sunday morning ready for the church service. Went to work and when I popped out during my lunch break to play at church my ground control pro midi controller wasn't powered up.

I power it via a 7 pin midi cable and the power adapter hooks up to the Axe Fx

When I got everything home I found the power adapter was blown. It was over 10 years old so I wasn't shocked.

Got a new one yesterday and it lasted 10 mins at most, Something in my set up is blowing power adapters. I checked the midi cable and can't seem to make the power pins short, so it's either the GCPro or the Axe Fx causing it.

This'll sound stupid but.......
Did you check the Adaptor to make sure it was the right Amperage???
It may be set to the right Voltage but it'll need to right Amperage too!!

Yep I did, though it doesn't strictly need the correct amp, the device will draw what it needs, so as long as the power supply isn't underated it's fine.

I hoped it was the midi cable (cheapest and easiest fix) but I can't make the power pins short.

The Axe Fx only connects the power supply connector to the midi cable, so I doubt it's that so I'm guessing it's the controller. especially seeing as it works for a while before killing the power supply.

Now I have to try and make a do all kind of patch until I can get this fixed

Sorry to hear this man! I can't help about this issues, but every time I have an issue like this I visit a friend who is Engineer and always solves these type of problems easily. Try to contact a professional who can help you without the risk of ruining the device!

Exactly! that's all I was getting at. smile.gif
I have a small Peavey practice amp which used to eat P/Supplies until I realised they were too low amperage!

It does sound like it's the controller, may be a short in it somewhere?
As Gab says, take it to someone who knows where they're at with this stuff, it's all a bit beyond me!!

Embarrassingly all my training is in electronics but I just don't have the equipment to troubleshoot it.

I couldn't even get into it, it's built like a tank
