Alright, we all have been debating what and whatnot to do when practicing with a guitar in our hands, BUT smile.gif What about the times when we are far from our instrument and we itch and fret about not being able to practice? Here's a great article that gives a few tips on how to practice guitar without a guitar:

Have you ever tried any of these techniques/methods?

Yeah that's a cool article! I imagine if I have no guitar with me. Imagine of a fretboard, melodies, maybe some voicings..

I tend to go over form and arrangements of songs I'll be performing in my head right before I fall asleep.

This all relates to another thread we had about visualization (Inner Game of Tennis). Specifically visualizing 'success'.

Very interesting read Cosmin. I use the first 5 of these on guitar as well as piano and composing.

Hi Cosmin, I must say that I find this article very good! Can't agree more with the things that the guitarist listed and described in this article and I can admit that I have done most of them for many years. I recommend everybody to read it and incorporate those ideas.

Awesome article smile.gif Before I became a Martial arts instructor my instructor always told us to visualise the movements, everything from the sound in the room to the smell, and it works! Then awhile back I thought you should be able to do the same with the guitar smile.gif And I always try to learn the lick of the day or part of one to learn something new everyday.

Thanks for the link Vince - Gabe and Tom - visualizing is a very powerful tool indeed smile.gif I usually rehearse things in my head as well and I also sing them - finding the right key is usually the hardest part, but if I have a recording nearby, I can always use it to pick up the key and sing from there on, imagining where my hands will go.
