The "perfect" Overdrive?

It's got a 100hz boost/cut knob which is killer, since that is where bass frequencies bunch up and make your amp sound muddy. It's also got a voicing button in the middle to chance the tonal output. I find it to be really great at heavier tones for low volume 'live' work, especially theater and Broadway show type stuff. That's the stick point on so many guitar rigs that results in "MUD". Having a knob to dial it out and keep your under control seems a no brainer. But it's evidently not a not brainer as these things just came out a year ago or so. Before that, it was about using a parametric eq somehwere in the chain which adds quite bit of expense. Probably only has flat settings (playing+recording loops through soundcard) but I haven't yet to find a better source to compare any pedal next to each other. Personally after comparing many pedals I've noticed its always the mid edge (the clipping freq.) is the most important to me since it can't be tweaked, bass comes later. For example I still have my friends jd9 with me and it is bright compared to ts9, sort of like maxon 808x compared to a normal 808. Its really neat for shredding as the brighter that mid peak gets (adding/decreasing low mid. is also huge benefit) but after comparing it with ts9, its usage with cleaner amp settings to me simply sucks Also, if wanting to boost distortion and want proper low end a cleanbooster is much more hassle free. They also add dirt so its definitly not similar to increasing gain from amp. Paul gilbert for example used an RC booster on some live shows I watched on youtube. Why I wrote these is because shredder needs are different from other guitar styles and not many overdrives are built to shred. I'm cool with my bb9 but someday I will check the boss fb-2...
