Alright so I heard a rumor from a friend of mine about a locking nut system that does not require a pre-cut neck for the locking nuts
Anybody have any idea about this? O.o
I'm thinking of building my own guitar here in the near future, and I was interested in a Floyd Rose system similar to the one Muris uses, but I do have a spare neck and it is not pre-cut for the locking nuts.
My Floyd is actually normal one,it's just that hole in the body is like for tremolo bridges, that's all.
This "pre-cut" is place for locking nut on the neck, right?
No; the locking nut can be put on guitars that don't have any indents on the neck.
I think he's just been mislead.
Or maybe he's confused it with the actual tremolo and the routs in the bridge.
Eh well; people get names mixed up all the time! Especially ninjas !
No
It's just the neck/bridge that some people get confused on and the locking nut might have gotten confused with the tremolo system itself.
Or maybe he was just completely wrong......but lets not assume that
Kahler use to make one that screwed down behind a normal nut. It used little flip levers instead of allen screws to provide clamping . It still may be available....Aint seen one since the late 80's..lol
Edit....I found a site that has some. This isnt exactly what I was talking about but.....well take a look. http://www.universaljems.com/cart/nutslock.htmforce
Ok so I completely lost this thread until today
What I was refering to when I said "pre-cut" was most of the FR tem. guitars I see have the locking nuts at the top of the neck. I also see that right before the fret board, there is (what looks like) a small cut-away in the neck where the locking nuts sit, along with two screw holes that go through the neck
My question was if there were locking nuts that did not require I drill any holes through my guitar neck I am thinking about turning one of my older guitar's into something similar to Muris' new guitar, just not quite as high-end ^.^
lock in nuts drive me nuts
My girlfriend wants to lock my nuts up...
Yeah, those are locking tuners, nut is something else.
Keep nuts.
Yep, those are tuners ^.^
So a locking nut system can go onto a neck without a cut being made into the neck? I'll have to look into that o.O
Also, I think I have a mislead understanding of your floyd setup Muris. Is the hole in the body something like what I would find on a stratocaster (the smaller hole) or is it much bigger?
