Hello GMCers!! I think that GMC is ready for "The Black Metal Collab". This collab is only able for those players which like darkness and cannot sleep at night...

The backing is inspired by the black metal pioneers Venom.

The key is F#m and the tempo is 140 bpm. You will notice that the overall mix sounds very low fi, trying to imitate black metal sound. Feel free to experiment with your guitar tone over this one!

PS: This collab will be dedicated to our great Argentinean metal guru and old friend Lian Gerbino who provided some of the most killer extreme metal lessons ever at the site!



Important Info:
This is a "video" collab, so I will need audio & video from you. You should be sending exactly these 3 files:
Audio File 1: This file must be a mix of your solo and the backing track.
Audio File 2: This file must be only your guitar solo (no backing)
Video File: Video of you playing the solo. (audo isn't important in this one, it can be the one that the camera captures)
How to send the files? The best way for me is using "Wetransfer.com" and sending the files to [email protected]
Let me know if you have any other question about how to participate!

About the style:
This backing was inspired by Venom, that's why I included it in our British Metal collab series. Venom is considered part of the new wave of British Heavy Metal because they appeared at the same time and place than bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon and many others, but they were more extreme than those bands, and influenced and gave the name to the sub-genre Black Metal.

Check this extract from Wikipedia:
"Venom are an English heavy metal band that formed in 1979 in Newcastle upon Tyne.[1] Coming to prominence towards the end of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Venom's first two albums—Welcome to Hell (1981) and Black Metal (1982)—are considered a major influence on thrash metal and extreme metal in general.[1] Venom's second album proved influential enough that its title was used as the name of an extreme metal subgenre: black metal."

Here's my first idea, and like always probably my last... something to do with being lazy I believe... Anyhow, not real happy with parts of it toward the end, but see wot y'all think....? I didn't have enough livestock to sacrifice to keep it going so it kinda drops off.... Got any melodic collabs?

Yes, I'll participate but just not real happy with this take. I usually try to make the collabs....even the ones I'm not real comfortable doing just to push my ability and try to learn the style that the collab is based around.

I first saw Venom in 1984 at Hammersmith Odeon!!! (I still have the T-shirt!!!)

Hello guys! This is the final video of the fourth part of the British Metal Collab series. This one was a bit risky because it was the first Black Metal Collab ever. This style is very dirty and extreme so we just had 4 brave soldiers that joined this one. So I would like to personally thanks Gitarrero, Slavenko, Dieterle and Sensible Jones for joining this one. You guys rock!

Gitarrero: kity, Justin Bieber, pink curtains… are you trying to say something to me??? Hahahahaha you made my day mate, it was really fun to edit your video. Thanks a lot for your take and coolest ever video. Let’s see if I’m brave enough to start a JB collab.

Slavenko: You are the GMC King of metal. Your video and your solo are pure true black metal. Great attitude, dirty sounds and everything this collab should need. Your video is not in synch all the time but that makes it more diabolic. Thanks Mr Slavenko.

Dieterle: Hey mate! It’s cool to have you one this one. Your video looks very good! It’s very original and your solo is also very in style, dirty, noise, real black metal! Thanks a lot.

Sensible Jones: Hi mate! Your solo is top level as always! You could submit really cool rock licks over this extreme backing and the final result is a very audible rock solo with a Black Metal tone. And the final part… epic!

Awesome guys! Man, I didn't get to the video part though I had a take for this......... I've just not had the time.


Chris... That was completely off the wall.... literally! Pink curtains and all! Classic sir! I loved that man!

Slav... Dude, that was a bit of an eerie video like I've seen on the good ol scary movies with the bit of film jerk I saw, liked that ALOT! Plus man... your playing is well suited for this.... That was a BOSS lead you did man! You've been cranking out some really nice guitar stuff.

Dirty Dieter... I also liked your taped up film strip, I need to learn some video editing... this stuff looks way cool! You've been working on your dark side as well I see. YOu've got the tone nailed and I see you are progressing with your note placement. Well done sir! SCORE!!

SJ.... That was a nice lead for the backing, I like the taping to give the scale that off tone a bit. Loved that guitar as well! That was a cool ending... liked the added touch, reminded me of Rob Zombie!
