Actually I listen to his songs and he doesn't abuse the speed limit, that was strange for a guy who broke the world record.

Impressive I must admit. cool.gif

.... but give me a well crafted solo any day regardless of speed and I'll be still impressed.

This has been discussed here before, some people think it is fake, I don't it looks real to me however I dislike his picking. At 170 bpm I hear uneven timing, at 230 I hear the same thing. Then when it gets to ridiculous speed, I really can't tell what he is doing, it is way to fast to even distinguish if he is being accurate or not.

I am a fan of steady picking, fast but steady and with dynamics. That is why I love Paul Gilbert's shred, maybe not the fastest, but incredibly steady controlled and accurate. To me this is more important that increasing speed.

This is better to me

I can clearly hear the 16th notes played at the right time

I don't think this was a fake.
I'd love to play that fast. Not always, but sometimes. :-)

If you actually check out his music, its nothing like this. I do admit, Playing at 320 bpm is pretty near useless, But his point here wasnt the music, just to see if he could set a record. His actual music is pretty awesome at times, he doesnt even play close to 320 bpm in his songs I think. That aside, I think he muted the notes so you could hear the notes more clearly, maybe it was a requirement or something, Muting did make it sound bad, but once again I think the point was setting a record, not his music.

And one last thing, Learning to play this fast (well, maybe not 320 bpm, I probably would struggle with 220 bpm, actually, I know I would laugh.gif ) But if he can play this fast, any other speed below would be extremely comfortable to him. 16th notes, even 16th triplets or 32nd at a lower tempo like 190 or 200 would be very easy, and most importantly it wouldnt stress him. Thats why I think it can be beneficial at times to learn to play fast.

biggrin.gif it does,
and by the way tone in his songs sucks, same like here.. definetely not a fan smile.gif For example he`s like 2 times faster than Vinnie Moore, but i can`t even compare their songs, it`s pretty clear who is more enjoyable to listen.
