Steve Vai and Satch definately! I've heard plenty of other guys since that influence me to. But that's what got me going.

Kris's intro video really motivated to take "guitar seriously" to be honest.

First I was inspired by David Gilmour and Jimmy Page and they were the reason why I started learning guitar.

Lately it has been Paul Gilbert 1st Because I really like is playing is so balanced just plain awesome then in 2nd we have is personality he is not a complete ass just because he plays very good. He is humble and a true friend of his public!

IMO kirk hammet is a sloppy player. hetfeilds riffing drives metallica along but, god they let kirk solo too much.

Same here. Useless vibrato and style IMO tongue.gif

Shawn Lane, Gary Moore, Paul gilbert, etc...

My latest inspiration has come from my new friend and our fellow GMCer, Noangels. The guy can play. Check out his youtube video in the GMC, Lessons and Practicing forum under the " A Very General Question About Picking" thread. I've already copped some ideas from this video. I like his bluesy style that goes beyond blues. smile.gif

Before playing the electric guitar, Andrew York influenced me and he still is my idol. Then I fell in love with Carlos Santana who convinced me to buy an electric guitar. I played his songs for about one year and I was really satisfied when I could play his "fast legato licks" (only 3 notes on 1 string biggrin.gif). Soon after that, I discovered GMC and read a little bit about great players (Ynwgie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani,...). None of them was ok for me but Steve Vai. smile.gif He is probably my biggest influence. Then I realized that I need more guitarists to analyse because only one is boring (that doen´t mean that Steve Vai is boring, but always the same is a bit unhealthy). So, I played a bit Satch and tried Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert and others. Some months ago, I perceived that Muris is incredible. He and Vai are on first place of my influences. I always get new motivation when seeing them play... Thanks for this. smile.gif

A lot of it was Slash, and Guns N' Roses as a whole, but there are so many, it's hard to count. Muris and Marcus Lavendell are what's mostly keeping me going, though.

Great topic as always.I think I manage to find inspiration in all the successful artists who made the name out of them selfs on there own.People who manage to do it from the bottom, and people who stayed and sayed there own mind always and trough any pressure.
Directly my hero is local(from Serbia,Montenegrao acctualy)he lives and works here in Belgrade, and his name is Vlado Georgiev. That name does not mean anything to you,but to me it does.I met him acctualy smile.gif, that was just a boost up of confidence for me.
So many times I brake down, and start not to beleve in my self,I just remeber his example, and I know that any one with a strong will power could make it in evrery line of work.
