Uggh! Is it just me or Has Megadeth just spiraled in to complete crap? Check out the snippet off the new album. I'm taking in to account

1.)He's very old.
2.)His voice was ruined by drugs/drinking/touring long ago
3.)He's already written all of his "Angry" music.

Still, they have some fine players in that band and some great records under their belt. This is just so Sad. Take a listen.

Very old, lol! He's 52.

On the other hand maybe Dave's tired of playing like a 20 year old - ?

I think it has to do with something that I read about a year and a half ago.

If I remember right, Megadeth has a contract that required them to write a few albums for this label. I'm pretty sure Dave has been ready to retire for a while. I think this is just him showing that he is burnt out. Eventually all greats must step down and let someone else take the torch.

Actually they have parted ways with roadrunner already.

Super Collider is the upcoming fourteenth studio album by American heavy metal band Megadeth. It is due to be released on June 4, 2013.[1] It will be Megadeth's first album to be released on Mustaine's own label, Tradecraft,[2] after the band's split with Roadrunner Records

But yeah example this song is quite weird->

The chorus at 0:52 is...is weird

Just giving him a hard time on his age, all the BIG FOUR guys are about the same vintage smile.gif . His playing is about the same as when he was 20, it's his riff writing and lyrics and voice that seem to have sorta gone limp sad.gif

I agree 100 percent. It sounds like the lyrics were an afterthought. Almost sounds like they just released the demo tracks that a band might send a lable prior to production. Maybe that's what happened? They left or got dropped (who knows) from Road Runner and just decided to release the demo tracks?

All things considered, I guess it had to happen and he had to make his "St Anger" record and all that. But as fan, I'm let down. Simple as that. I hope the next one is a return to form as this one seems like a waste.

Been a megadeth fan since 90's...as someone who's some-what into composition and recording I thought;

- The mix isn't good. Sounds like a good homestudio recording that didn't use virtual instruments tongue.gif specially the vocal, its not hard to think who called the shots when they were adjusting gain levels smile.gif its simply too in-your-face plus dry sounding.

-The mastering isn't good. You can't judge mastering without listening to the mix but when one noticed audible clipping (I hear when listening youtube) this isn't a good sign on quality.

-Composition-wise its not taking enough "risk" smile.gif

I'd guess Dave took the project too personal to the level of damaging/limiting musicality. The band is great though, should be a good experience listening them live.

I've listened to one song on the radio - Super colider, and i won't listen to album to skip the further levels of dissapointment..
I';ve been a fan since 90's but i''m sorry to say that there are a lot of better bands nowadays than Megadeth...

I hope Mustaine is enough wise and will try to save the ship from sunking and try to reform the Mega "lineup" from 90's - Friedman and Menza , or else... ph34r.gif

My thoughts exactly smile.gif Sounds like a nice demo, not a real release. He is recording it himself at home these days and it sorta sounds like it. sad.gif

I"m not sure who mastered it but I"m guessing his name is Mustaine smile.gif Thus the poor quality.

They've become a Megadeth Cover Band, playing the old stuff and just tossing out demos as a full release as an excuse to tour it seems. I hope the next record is a Triumphant Return to Form!!! smile.gif

Its such a shame cause though a mix process can take some time (not as much as recording though), a mastering process only takes a day or two.

I understand budget concerns in an era where people don't see music as a product (CD) anymore but this is simply unnecessary.

Every artist or serious hobbyst should at least research what a quality stem-based mastering can do to a song.

Unfortunatelly.

I bought Long awaited Risk cd when it was out, and throw it away after one listening . Left me speechless. mellow.gif
I hate to say this, but Even Metalloca's LOAD was a lot better dry.gif

Me either sad.gif I hope Dave let's a real producer come on board for the next one. I wish he would just ask CHRIS POLAND to come back. CHRIS BRODERICK is a fine player and all, but it sounds like he's just putting leads over Daves tracks as an afterthough. The lead work doesn't seem connected to the song itself as in early Megadeth.

Poland brought a Jazz vibe in to the mix which really made the material great. Marty Friedman was a really good edition, but despite Brodericks skill level, he has yet to define himself in terms of style/sound/approach the way other folks in the lead slot in Megadeth have done. Hopefully this release will be a big wake up call for Dave.

yes i do agree with that, some solos just feel like they are there just for the sake of being there, i quite dislike them to be honest.
Another think that i have came to dislike it's their guitar tone :/
