Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Ballad soloing - Dynamics & Phrasing #2 by Darius Wave

Hi guys, Darek's team finished a new lesson. I worked with very much pleasure on it because it's one of the lessons that I love. Has a gorgeous melodic line, a bunch of details and the fact that required a hard work to find the perfect tone for it made the practice more delicious. Darek, thank you so much for everything you do for me. You are an amazing instructor!!! BTW my fingers are ready for Ballad Soloing #3 ;)

Oh man, another epic take from you again, Monica - what's going on? What's your secret?

I actually thought you had a hand coordination mistake at 0:24 but I listened again, went back and checked the original, and realised it's 2 quick notes followed by the 3rd. It was played correctly but it's possible you could play that bit with a bit more overall note velocity to make it sound more purposeful because I had initially misinterpreted it as a mistake but didn't on Darius's version. Does that make sense? I think you played it a bit softly so my brain went "huh?" But that's only a small point.

Other than that, only a minor timing fluctuation at 0:43.

Everything is great. Nice tone, good flow throughout. Having to keep a good performance for 2 mins is a lot to ask for when you know you're going to be examined for it - but you did an amazing job.

Great student + Great teacher = great results!

Hi Monica!

It seems that you've created a killer team with the talented Darius! And the results are very notorious. I've been following your progress as a guitarist here at GMC and it's impressing. I also like the fact that you give a lot of importance to aspects that many guitarists foget when study as tone, dynamics, vibrato, bending, and other elements totally related to expression, feeling, to finding your own voice.

This take can have some little details to adjust (Ben marked them) but the overall shows a guitarist taking his feeling and expression techniques to its limits and that's so great, that means that you are on the right track.

Keep on the amazing job!
