Favorite Place In Your Country

When I was kid my grandparents would take us out on their John boat to go fishing/crabing. It's was a small flat bottom boat, so we could get deep in to the inlets. The water was crystal clear and you could see all the way to the bottom. I would dive in when ever I saw a conch and bring it back up to the boat. We'd catch flounder, crabs, clams, and squid all day. Then sit on the beach eating fried chicken or PB&J's, go swimming for a few hours, and then we'd go back to my grandparent's house to clean and eat what we had caught that day and freeze the rest. My grandparents were poor southerners who lived in the middle of the woods. They pretty much hunted, caught, or grew 90% of what they ate. After they both died I haven't really been back to their farm. I really miss those summer adventures and all of the fresh seafood. I can still buy fresh seafood from the fish markets, but it's not really the same as when you catch it yourself..and it's still noticably fresher. I plan on buying a boat sometime in the near future so that I can take my daughter on little fishing trips like the ones I loved when I was a kid. There's nothing like it. Some say Glastonbury Tor was Avalon... For those who have not visited, it's well worth the trip As far as other great places here in the states, there are the usual suspects of course, L.A., Vegas, D.C., New York, etc. All of which are worth at least a weekend at a minimum. But honestly, if you are visiting the states from Europe, you'd do best to visit some place where you know somebody so that they can show you the cool stuff that isn't listed in the tourist info.
