The GRAMMY awards were once a HUGE deal. The highest award in the field of popular music. The Grammy Award Show used to get huge ratings. As music and the music industry has fractured over the years, the awards show has been in decline, much like other awards shows. This past year saw the grammys hit a new low in it's key demographic 18-49. I wanted to ask. *DOES ANYBODY HERE WATCH THE GRAMMYS? *DO YOU THINK AWARD SHOWS LIKE THIS ARE OFFICIALLY POINTLESS? *DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE FIRST YEAR "RAP" WAS A CATEGORY AND IT WAS PRACTICALLY A SCANDAL? The last time i remember watching the Grammys was the year JETHRO TULL (many won't know who this band is) beat METALLICA. That was the end for me.
I watched the nominees vid and realized how lame popular music has become. Egad. Get off my lawn!

I've heard most of those and I can say that are good albums/songs. They are not outstanding... but I don't think that there are outstanding rock/metal albums nowadays... at least I don't find them. However it's cool to see that there is some place for rock and metal on mainstream.
I'm pretty sure that these choices are related to marketing and business, but wining one of them can still have a big impact in a musician/band career.

Well said. I hate to think that the quality of music has just declined over the years but it certainly seems to have done so. To be sure there are quality bands out there. Yet, it sure seems like many of the best bands are no longer the young up and coming bands but the established acts. I hate to be "that guy" though.
