I'm sure it would not be the same sound like from the Vai's legacy but hey, try it somewhere before considering buying it

There was a rumor on few forums about some plastic piece inside power section in Legacy, not sure if it was combo or head and how many watts. Anyhow,they said that Carvin made few series of Legacy with that plastic part (should have been metal) and it gets melted after many hours of playing...  Check it out,I can't recall if that issue has been solved but just to be sure

I played Legacy while trying out a JEM in the store and i absolutely loved the clean channel. I couldn't hear a decent distortion because they didn't let me turn the amp loud to hear the real distortion of it so i don't know about the drive channel.

Steve love to go from clean to crunch to full drive all in one song, in Tender Surrender I think he uses his volume knob to go from clean to crunch in stages, then kicks in a pedal for the high gain section, so I am guessing he had the Legacy drive channel designed with that in mind. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
