How Do I Record A Song?

K. I am a so a beginneer here. So I have a midi drum file of a song that i want to record. My main is too record me playing the guitar to this drum file, and to record it. Now. I assume what i need to do is to get some sort of microphone put it in front of me amp and record me playing this song with the drum in background. OHHHH PLease help.

What kind of equipment do you have? Are you using a DAW? (daw like reaper/cubase/protools)

Hehe thats why I put the program names in brackets. DAW is a Digital Audio Workstation. Where you would record guitar, piano, synths, drums etc. You can download "Reaper" if you dont have one. (just google it) But you will need to either set up a microphone to record your amp or use a converter to hookup your amp to your computers soundcard. This isn't the best way to do it, but from what you are saying you probably don't have the nessecary equipment to record. There are tons of options. Line 6 makes USB interfaces to record from or you could try and get a new sound card and Mic up your amp or plug your guitar straight in.
