Help Wiring 8 Pole Switch Ibanez S, Two active humbuckers, 1 vol, 1 tone, 5 position sw. Options

Anyone have experience wiring the 8 pole switch on an Ibanez S prestige? I spent many hours working through schematics and deciphering the original wiring.

The old neck pick ups have two outputs and the bridge has just one. It goes to a 4 or 5 position switch with 8 poles.

The new pickups have just one output from each pickup. After wiring it the best I could I have all positions on the switch work except one, the top neck setting is open. The original design splits the neck pickup between two terminals and some of the terminals were jumped and some were grounds for the original pick up.

Since the new ones are active there are less configurations possible but weirdly the switch still changes the tone.

I think I can figure out which terminals need jumped but a little experience here would help. Thanks guys

Thanks Mertay, I have searched the site and the internet in general but found not a whole lot about how they work with this switch and pick up combo. Ill have to start a thread there too. Thanks man!

I will take a close look at home but this Ibanez had originally the 5-way switch and 2 extra options for humbucker split and parallel colis connection? That's what Ibanez did in 5-way switch in 2 humbucker on board guitars. I will take a look at live wire but the probably have no coil split option so You can't wire those to keep original Ibanez connections. Best would be to replace the switch for a tele 3-way switch to get regular "bridge-both-neck" options. I
ll confirm once I made detailed analysis

I'm in the electrical industry, but I don't really screw with guitar electrical. On the other hand I've literally wired up thousands of switches and equipment. Do you have a schematic, or part number for your switch? If you could scan your drawing; it could be helpful. All switches work the same; I can't imagine it being very complex. Make sure you use silver solder to give you the best connection.

Ibanez had it's special wirring for 2 humbuckers (most of producers used only 3 way switch).

This switch is not complicated We have 2 independent circuits - 4+4 pin. We can do independent switching operations on both. For example changing the pickup and making the coil split (coils connection cables to ground connection) on the second circuit. It's way hard to write this don on paper. I would make You this wirring within 20 minutes if You would be my regular customer in the service...but it usually takes 10 x as much time when trying to give remote feedback

When You brought live wire humbucker iwth 2 wire output (shield / ground + hot) the only thing You can do is:
1. Insert 3 way switch and make it "the usuall way"
2. Solder neck output to 2 pins of the 5-way and get neck pickup sound on 3,4, 5 positions. Twisted wirring was available only for 4-wire conductor of passive pickups. Second circuit was used to make this:




But seems like You already figured this out
