After finally accepting that the GSP1101 was never going to be able to give me the kind of tone I can get out my plugins (Hyper overdriven, krunchy, Metal, quasi 80s, etc.) I hooked up a laptop and firewire audio interface/soundcard to my rack and BINGO!!!!!

It sounds amazing. I'll record some clips so you guys can hear. I should have done this long ago. Here are the cool bits.

1.)Running REAPER on the laptop and using OVERLOUD on Track 1, SGEAR clean patch on Track 2,

*This way I can litteraly stack up the distorted and clean sounds and retain the best bits of each with full level control. The clean channel retains a really nice pick strike sound with lots of nice attack. This is an old recording trick. Running the clean signal under the dirty. smile.gif

2.)Full Foot Pedal Control!! With a Line 6 MKII Shortboard

*Full Wah/Volume, patch/bank, etc. and tuner on/off. Just like the controller that I had with the GSP which was the best part about the GSP. Built like a tank and with a readout.

In short, I should have done this long ago. Here is the signal chain.

Guitar>Sansamp Paradriver (Pre Eq)>
ADA Preamp (on clean channel just for tube warmth)>
Fire One Audio Interface (Firewire connectivity for zero latency)>
Reaper DAW hosting Overloud and SGear running on 2 separate tracks.

Staggeringly good sound and enormous flexibility. I like the tone better than most of the AXE FX stuff I've heard even which is saying a lot for me as I really like some of the Periphery tones. The AXE fx is esssentially a dedicated computer and audio interface in a rack case. I'm using a separate computer running two entire guitar sims and blending them. The AXE FX has some limitations that I'm only recently finding out about. You have limits as to how many of certain fx you can stack. However in TH2 for example, if you want to stack 10 chorus units on top of each other, you can smile.gif

Here are some pics.
