Yo ho-ho mateys!! If ye be riffing and bending on the high sees, I'd be glad to welcome thee on a quest for the pirate's gold!
Let's join forces on this one, because as I promised - the Pirate collab is here! 
Bottom line? We all get to dress up as pirates by using patch eyes, hats, fake teeth, wooden legs, hook hands, maybe a parrot? And jam together on this piratey backing track!
Here are the details:
Time signature: 4/4
Chord progressions: C5 G5 F5 C5 x 2 G5 Bb5 Eb5 G5 Ab5 F5 D5 G5
Scales you can use: C Aeolian, G Phrygian, Ab Lydian, Bb Mixolyian, F Dorian
Material format:
- 1 track containing the solo only (.mp3 or .wav)
- 1 track containing both solo and backing track
- the video in .mp4 format would be ideal
Deadline: February 25th

Yaar, sounds a blast. Although ye say "dress up as pirates by using patch eyes, hats, fake teeth, wooden legs, hook hands" like some of us don't do that already??
Interesting fact, my ancestors on me fathers side contains a famous pirate... Bartholomew Roberts, or better known as Black Bart.
It's been told to me that aside from being a pirate, he was also a great romantic gentleman as he landed me great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great,... whew... great, great, great grandmother by using this simple pickup line.......
Pardon me, but would ye mind if I fired me cannon through your porthole?
I don't really know if that's a true story or not.... just telling it like I heard it.
Even though I'm a fan of pirates Yer missin the point Sam me boy.... ye should go and pirate ye a pirate costume...!
Ok, maybe that post was a bit ... overboard?

So I've heard, but so far I've yet to see any proof of it... Genetically speaking, I've seen noone in the family with any wooden legs that I'm aware of...

Gonna give it a try... The due date on this will be about in the middle of the time my son will be born, should be bringing him home that week!
He can sit with me while I play.... I see one of two things happening.... He will either hate it, OR he will want to play too one day due to me inspiring him either by good playing, or inspiring him by bad playing thusly leading him to wanting to pick up a guitar to show me how to do it properly.

Well, here's something to help you guys out a bit
Listen to these tunes and observe the phrasing - for instance, you can phrase in triplets and you will obtain that traditional phrasing style which is so much encountered in this sort of music Give it a try!

Ok, one more question:
I tried to do a reply in the other scale, which sounds more piraty.
Should I stick with one scale or is it ok to do what I do in this soundclip?

Hmmm there are some notes that don't sound too good here and there - you should try to alternate things with the minor scale so that it would bring things home What do you think?

I think you might be right.
I just wanted to use the scales C Aeolian + G Phrygian (and later Ab Lydian, Bb Mixolyian, F Dorian).
But now I will just compose the next part without thinking too much about scales, which often gives me OK results.

This was brilliant Grace.... HA, so I had my little matey in my arms at about midnight as he was getting a little rambunctious.... and kid you not, when you started playing he just laid really still and listened. He and I both give it two hooks up lass. Very melodic and tasteful!

As far as VIDEO EDITING Goes, I used
FINAL CUT PRO 7 (Mac Only, Still like it better than Final Cut X, but using X more and more)
MAGIC BULLET LOOKS (My fav plugin for adding visual "sauce")
*Free Demo available PC / Mac , Student version 200 bux

CORE MELT FREE (Free plugins from CORE MELT, Mac Only, for the Radioactive Rays)
I'm running a Mac so I run some software that only runs on a Mac such as Final Cut, and Core Melt. There are plenty of ways to skin a cat so all this can be done just fine on PC with various products. But if you have a Mac, you owe it to yourself to Try Final Cut , LOGIC 9, etc. All the software that requires the Mac as "Dongle"

Well thanks I new going to graduate school for Film would eventually be worth it, Seriously though I really dig messing about with video and graphics. I'm really glad to have picked up so much along the way. All I really wanted to do was make videos about/featuring music related stuff

Thanks to everyone for participating on this one! My congratulations for the playing and fine video ideas - this was fun to put together
In order of appearance:
Patcheye Patrik - Mate, you managed to build an awesome theme - just pay a little attention to the tightness of your recording and you can be a great buccaneer!
Vonhotch The Black - I kept ALL your take - the whole ensemble was too darn good not to I would strongly suggest you to focus on getting your bends into pitch and also, direction is sometimes uncertain - by that I mean that you tend to leave certain phrases unresolved.
Terrible Todd and Jolly Jouve - Great takes mates - I took the opportunity and organize a piratey duel between the two of you Very different approaches but both very nice and well played!
Greedy Grace - Great take miss! Nothing to add - musical and well played. If mermaids could play guitar like that, any pirate or sailor would fall for them!
Cunning Cosmin - you all know my take as I've been playing it on and off in the v-chat
Treacherous Tonyk - great setting mate - I liked your take but I thought that this second half is better performed than the first, in respect to the playing and the note choices!
Ulrik The Red - A melange of sea themes on the double accompanied by a great video! My congrats mate - the only thing that I would add is that your tone could be cleaner and thus provide a much tighter take
