the drums and bass were recorded in a studio along with the guitars but the guitars sound was horrible so i decided to record the guitars over and mix everything myself.

unfortunatly the vocals arent too brilliant either, they were a first take vocals as our recording time ran out.

anyways, any feedback is good feedback so dont hold back biggrin.gif

Lead Guitar + Keyboards - Chris (me)
Rythm Guitar - Matty Armstrong
Drums - Ste Lolachi
Bass - Cal Young

our old recordings (from the studio) are available at www.myspace.com/musicparadox

You need to raise the volume of the vocals. They should be more in front, now they sound kind of weak. Especially when the distorted guitars come blasting in.

Oh and it's way too long. Kill your darlings and cut that baby down to size. As soon as you pass about 3.30 minutes it puts alot of more demand on the song. If you want your song to last for a bit of six minutes and still be interesting for the listener then more stuff has to happen.

/Marcus

Maybe you should double or triple the vocals track to get it more outstanding, stronger.

I like the song but as said already, it's too long. I think it would improve if there's a metal mayhem at 3:30 that raise until the end.

lol, metal mayhem.
thing is, when we play this song live alot of the people sing along or get up and dance/mosh/whatever for the entire song and throughout the song there are very few people that sit down, infact theres more people get up usually... i dunno why, but it seems that people like the length of the song live, yet when recorded it doesnt have the same effect.

maybe cutting the recorded version down while playing the full length version is a good way to go about it.

thanks for the helpful comments guy's

Yes, live and studio are very different mediums, and what you do should be tuned appropriately. Your signature song that has a 10 minute solo that everyone loves in your live set might suit a much shorter treatment in the studio, really regard them as different songs ...

The verse has a bit of "All Along The Watchtower" Feel to it, But I think it's a great song, catchy, and yeah I agree with andrew this should only be long live.
