Maybe new pick shape suits you better , you should try to find a pick with normal side similar to your one upside down if you can

I don't know, that doesn't work here... Although I can play it like that, I don't really like the sound.

Maybe for some gently brushing effects that you can't get with normal (spiked) side.

I guess the shape of the pick makes the difference for you. A pointy pick results in a more precise sound, but fast picking is a bit harder than with a more rounded pick. I suggest that you just experiment a bit with different picks (shapes and materials) because picks actually can have a big influence on your sound. I even thought about doing a small video lesson about picks and how the can influence your sound...
