Hi, does anybody know this bad feeling after practicing too much? Since a few days i practice nearly the whole day, and now i feel like I'm the worst player in the world. It's a realy horribel feeling that takes all motivation....... depressed greetings Your hand/wrist/fingers don't hurt, do they? I just got through dealing with something like that and it could have been much worse (see this topic). As long as you don't have any joint pain, I think it's fairly normal to feel sore after a long practice session. You're giving your fingers a workout when you practice. I know my leg muscles would be sore if I ran for 8 hours straight so it's no surprise your finger muscles are sore after playing all day. You probably suck at playing the next day, right? You take a day or two off and all of a sudden you're playing great again? I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you spend all day tearing down your finger muscles, they'll need some time to recover. When they do, they'll be even stronger then they were before. |

Hey man, I absolutely know what you are talking about... I used to write down a practice schedule for the day and used to practice a lot. If you are practicing intensely everyday I strongly recomend not touching the guitar for 24 hours. If you are serious about practicing everyday and have a serious practicing plan, leaving the guitar down for one to two days per week will help your playing a lot. That is because during that time when you are not playing, everything you have learned technically and in theory will be incrusted in your mind. Your brain is still working on what you have learned and it needs time to assimilate everything. You will find your playing more fluid and more comfortable if you deliberately keep the guitar down for a day. That advice is only good if you practice everyday seriousely... early going to bed helps too. its pretty obvious that if you play all day and night long you need a few days a week rest -------------------- The coolest new community: Lockerz Wanna join Lockerz? After I practice for long periods of time, I strip down naked, grease up my body, run out into the middle of the street, hold my guitar over my head and yell "I am a guitar GOD" at the top of my lungs. You should try it, certainly helps my morale... I actually believe you What part of NJ are you from? I drive through Newark on my way to business occasionally, maybe I'll catch you at it one of these days ... -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
