GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Guitarmasterclass Meet-up

Posted by: snackajacks Jun 10 2012, 09:41 PM

As I was chatting with Christian ( guitarero )
We thought it was cool to meet up with some of you guys and visit a festival or jam together. ( maybe, summer 2013 ? )
Since we all have different positions around the globe we thought the best place to meet is Central Europe.

Would be cool to know how you think about this and who's interested in a meetup !

Grtz Snackajacks & Guitarero

- just saw that there was already a tread by opetholic. So let's do this !

Posted by: Gitarrero Jun 10 2012, 09:45 PM

Since we just had a similar topic it might also be a nice idea to first meet up in smaller groups, like some guys from the Netherlands, UK, Scandinavia and Germany could meet up. Maybe at Ben's place, or the Area 4 festival ( http://www.area4.de/en/ ) this year wink.gif

Or a little meeting between the dutch and german members...maybe this wednesday? laugh.gif

That would be amazing guys! I'm a bit far from there and tickets are expensive but I hope to be able to be there!

Y'all make sure to wear you're GMC T shirts !!! wink.gif

Posted by: MonkeyDAthos Jun 11 2012, 01:01 AM

that sounds awesome biggrin.gif

Posted by: Ben Higgins Jun 11 2012, 01:47 PM

That would be a great thing to do.. now which bank can I rob and get away with it ?? wink.gif

Posted by: snackajacks Jun 11 2012, 01:57 PM

I created a poll for a location, If everyone votes on the area closest to his location then we can
sort it out a bit smile.gif

- woops. wrong poll settings, needed to add, Central Europe ( Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands)

Posted by: SCProphet Jun 11 2012, 02:59 PM

The central Europe thing still doesn't work tongue.gif

Posted by: Dieterle Jun 11 2012, 02:59 PM

Germany England and France would be ok for me smile.gif cool.gif

Posted by: thefireball Jun 11 2012, 03:34 PM

Man, I wish this could be a reality for me.

I can't edit, only an admin can edit that, Just choose the closest area of europe to you,
for instance the netherlands is eastern europe.

Posted by: Gitarrero Jun 11 2012, 05:16 PM

Haha, when I looked at the poll I thought :"Why didn't he include central europe???" laugh.gif

Couldn't help but imagining You, Opetholic, Bossie, SCProphet, Dieter and me travelling to England for a meet up, and none of the english dudes has the time to join us laugh.gif

But the poll seems pretty clear so far: Ben's place it is! Though I suppose buying a plane ticket would be cheaper then buying enough beer for all of us, Ben wink.gif

Christian

Posted by: Ben Higgins Jun 11 2012, 05:51 PM

Why are you guys voting for England ? England sucks ! laugh.gif

I vote Germany or somewhere in the middle of Europe smile.gif

Or anywhere in Europe I guess.. I classify anywhere West of Poland as Western Europe and anywhere East / South East of Poland as Eastern Europe. It's funny how we describe things differently.

Posted by: ringmar Jun 11 2012, 05:54 PM

Maybe I can Skype in from Canada. (Toronto area). smile.gif

Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Jun 12 2012, 08:41 AM

Mates! Anything goes for me - maybe a bit more difficult with USA/ South America due to the high costs, but regarding Europe - ANYWHERE is good!

As long as the date is right and we can get enough time before it to order good priced plane tickets, I think it can be ok.

If Ben's place it is, that's where we're going!

Cosmin

Posted by: snackajacks Jun 12 2012, 09:56 AM

So it is going to be England or Central Europe , Awesome !.
The best time to go is in summer of 2013, because then we have about a year to plan everything and everybody has
time to save money for it.

Gitarero and I will keep everyone updated, Can this topic be made sticky ?

Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Jun 12 2012, 10:15 AM

Summer 2013 is a very good time! There's plenty of time to organize and save money for this wonderful trip, so let's make it count!

Posted by: Yash Jun 12 2012, 12:57 PM

OK. Count me in too. biggrin.gif

laugh.gif No, I was jokin.

If I could have any sponsors or scholarship or anything. tongue.gif I'd love to come.

It'd be great to attend my first ever concert with you guys biggrin.gif And also it'd be my first trip out of India. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Sensible Jones Jun 12 2012, 01:25 PM

This is a great idea.
I'll need to keep an eye on what's going on as i'd love to meet up but am also saving for a Road Trip on Route 66 next year too!

This is a very exciting idea - and to those wondering what the management's standpoint on this is, I want to say that this is definitely part of future plans.

However in the near future - we are completely focused on the website/lessons as we see a lot of possible and necessary improvements.

Having said this, it would of course be awesome if GMCers could meet up all around the world and share pictures/experience on the forum.

Until we have the possibility to officially organize something like this - I also want to remind you that we do not want members to start collecting emails or any other private information via the GMC forum. (I have edited one post in this thread)

Can't we use the message system of the site instead of emailadresses?

Posted by: JesseJ Jun 13 2012, 03:37 PM

I am bood with anywhere in europe smile.gif I am planning to go there and explore next summer anyway so I would just center my plans around a GMC meetup !

Posted by: snackajacks Jun 13 2012, 07:20 PM

There were no intentions in collecting data from other data, Is it possible to use pm ?
Because of the huge interest in a meeting I wouldn't understand why it can't be.

Kris is just looking out for everyone guys. I don't think he means any harm or anything against the gathering in the least. He just wants to keep everyone safe in the end.

If you google some of the conversations we have here you will notice it does list on google. GMC requires a membership to view the site full, but you still get a preview of everything without it.

So say for instance I'm going to buy a guitar off someone on the forum I'll just post my name, address, and credit card information here. Next thing you know you bought it, after that purchase you see that someone from Antarctica bought a new tv, some dvds, and music that you don't even like. You know right off the bat that you didn't buy it. But it could have been prevented if someone was looking out for me when I bought the guitar and posted all my information on the forum.

I'm sure Kris can say if I'm correct or not with your answers of PM'ing people. But I don't think he will have an issue because that is more of behind closed doors than the wide open world.

Cool!

You might wanna check the Area 4 festival, I'm going, and maybe a few of the dutch guys care to come as well? It's somewhat close to the border.

But we'll see! And of course you're always welcome to stay at my place. Then I could show you some spots that are really "clichée" Germany, like the Black Forrest laugh.gif

Posted by: HungryForHeaven Jun 14 2012, 04:37 PM

I'm in basically anywhere in Europe.

Although I live in Scandinavia, I would probably vote for something more central, such as Cologne or Prague. Or Dorset.

Hey guys, Now that I seriously think about it...... I may have a chance to be in Europe next year. I am trying to get a course in Anthropology smile.gif , and they might just send me for training or something. smile.gif Even if they don't, dry.gif I could still try biggrin.gif

It'd be great. This is a plan for 2013, so, I might have just one slight chance.

But we'd try meeting at Ben's house or somewhere else in England, coz I don't know any other European language except English and French. Only if I start learning something new wink.gif

Don't worry too much, most Europeans have English as a second language (to a point) so if you really need to, you can converse with them. Also, if were all in a big group there's no need to worry smile.gif

Anyhow, guys I think we should all go to Duesseldorf and visit the Altstadt. C'mon Christian, ya feel me ? wink.gif

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altstadt_(D%C3%BCsseldorf)

And, lets go to Italy. The food would be good wink.gif

Posted by: Gitarrero Jun 15 2012, 01:37 PM

Don't worry Yash, since Germany is a big melting pot (especially Cologne) there are lots of sausages made of chicken smile.gif
If you don't like old towns...well...then we should meet in the USA, cause there's no chance not to find old towns in Europe laugh.gif

Ben, Cologne and Düsseldorf sound great, these cities are kinda expensive though when it comes to getting a place to sleep. So Dorset it is!! laugh.gif

I would still think London is the place to meet, the city seems to be capable of handling a bunch of maniacs biggrin.gif
