How about..

Speed Metal Symphony - Cacophony
Surfing with the Alien - Joe Satriani
Beast from the East - Dokken
Out of Nowhere - Vinnie Moore

Those are albums that totally made an impression on me just in terms of the guitar playing that was on them, although the compositions themselves on Satriani's and Moore's records were top notch as well.

I nearly put Yngwie's 1st album too. I couldn't decide because I prefer Magnum Opus musically but his guitar playing itself was more fresh and enjoyable on the first 2 records smile.gif

It's hard to make a "best of" album list , and not to mention some also awsome albums...

When Flexible was originally released on vinyl there was also a 10'' EP 'Inflexible' of alternate takes. I think some of them later appeared on the 'Leftovers' ep smile.gif . Inflexible was a limited run of only about 500 and was deleted from the catalogue ages ago (so maybe my copy is worth something biggrin.gif ) . Inflexible is more eclectic, adventurous and more fun/wacky then Flexible.

Yeah!

Santana- Abraxas The whole album is amazing... not just for the guitar but also for the percussive playing.

A few of my favorite classic rock albums:

ZZ Top- Tres Hombres (their best album IMO)
Led Zep- III (has a lot of variety)
Rainbow- Rising
Thin Lizzy- Jailbreak
Judas Priest- Stained Class (metal album but a classic)
AC/DC- Highway to Hell

Are we talking about guitar work only or the music in general? If it is about guitar playing only then I would name

Pink Floyd - Delicate Sound of thunder
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
MSG- first 4 albums

If we are talking about the music in general (not that the music on the albums I just mentioned would be bad!) I'd go for

Iron Maiden - Killers
Rainbow - Rising
Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell
And MANY MANY others... wink.gif
