Yep, I went active. For no particular reason except the price was right from a friend. They are better than what I had. I made a before and after comparison video if you would like to hear. Listen closely. The EMGs are just a bit clearer and more compressed.

The also sound a bit darker than the stock pickups - switched back and forth between the low stringed riffage and this is what I felt smile.gif Congrats on the acquisition Bran!

Congratulations on upgrade!

This video is very well done - to my ears new pickups sound more rich, while stock sound a bit thinner.
Also new pickups seem to have more details in the sound and bass.

I think these will suit your playing style very well.

Thank you Cosmin smile.gif

Nothing to it man smile.gif I think it's really well done, especially that there's a comparison method - which is the most important aspect, in respect to the purpose of the video.

Congrats on the upgrade smile.gif I had an IRG8 and I must admit the pickups part of why I sold the guitar. They are actually bass pickups taken from a CORT bass and repurposed for the guitar. Th emg 808s are a good upgrade so well done there! smile.gif Some people make use of the 16 volt mod in order to make the signal a big more clear. The mod involves adding another 8 volt and giving more headroom to the overall sound. Folks usually find it gives a clearer, less compressed sound. Here is a graphic.

So getting rid of them is a must if you plan on keeping the guitar

Nice comparison mate! Congrats on Your new toys smile.gif To be honest I feel like the rhythm tone is a bit harsh but the playing is descent anyway wink.gif As for the 18V mod - it's worth trying wink.gif Gives more dynamics smile.gif

Ha! I had no clue about this whole trick so far - but, is there enough space to place 2 batteries in there?

Yeah I had heard about the 18V mod. I don't know. I might keep it in mind. I'm still developing a tone, but yeah, i am looking to make my tone better for rhythms.
