ok, so I turned 40 last year (nearly a year ago now!) and at the time my wife had promised me an extra special gift, your only 40 once right, so I`d set my heart on a USA Charvel Wildcard, I managed to locate a dealer in the UK that was getting only 1 of 25 being made and was lucky enough to get in quick and put down a 20% deposit on it and await its arrival to the dealer

at the last minute Charvel changed the way they were going to distribute these 25 guitars and the dealer was no longer getting the one promised from Charvel, to say I was gutted is an understatement, but there ya go, thats life deposit was refunded and although they offered me plenty of alternatives even at very good discounted prices (due to me being let down so badly) nothing was really hitting the spot and I couldnt see the point of getting something that basically wasnt what I wanted!

anyways, a year on and I still really want to get a Charvel guitar, I really like the "So cal" model and they also do what is called a pro mod version which is made in Japan instead of the USA and along with it a little cheaper in price, all reviews actually say that they think the Japanese made Charvels are slightly better than the USA ones, but anyways, slightly cheaper is always good!

This year for my birthday at the end of the month, (because my wife didn`t actually end up getting me anything for my birthday last year ) she`s agreed to buy me one of these Japanese model Charvels, hoorah!

question is what colour shall I get?? I cant decide out of these two



Candy Blue



Snow white


I quite like the idea of the Snow White one as in an ideal world with lots of spare cash I`d buy the Jackson Adrian Smith Signature model, but I really like the Candy blue one too

which one guys??? oh .. and getting both is NOT an option I`m told

Those are both beautiful I must say, that would be a hard choice I think the snow white stands out to me, I duno why but with the way the pick guard looks the snow white looks better to my eyes. Kind of like its stylish as if it was wearing a tux. Well that and I love penguins so maybe its just the white/black.

yep, I`m really leaning towards the White one as well, I`ve played one of these guitars so I do like them and know what I`m getting, I still keep having that second thought though of "what else can I get for around £600??"

I think I`m defo gunna go for one of these tho, I nearly bought one a year ago and regretted not going through with it purely coz I still had a bitter taste in my mouth after getting let down with the wildcard!

yea, coz its so close to the Adrian Smith Jackson model it attracts me big style.

It's so difficult! Both are beautiful guitars! I would go for the white one but I'd be happy with the blue too...

It would be black n white for me - but man, it's a hard choice as both are very beautiful.

Either way you choose - you end up with an awesome instrument

Personally, I'd go with the white one...

But did you try the sold out trick? I.e. if you would walk into the store ready to buy either the blue or white one, and they would tell you one of them is sold out, for which one would you feel the most disappointment ? Works for me quite often ....

They are both beautiful, tough choice to make! Personally I would probably vote for the blue, since I have a blue Les Paul and tend to lean toward blue guitars in the first place.

oooh interesting

I was actually going back towards the blue, but the general concenus is defo the white!

I like the "trick yourself" idea

I think its going to be the white and follow a couple of my favourite guitarists, Adrian Smith and Jake E Lee

still be a couple of weeks before it gets ordered so one may well sell out, theres only one of each available at the dealers atm

Normally I`m pretty set and its "yep thats the one" but on this occasion I just cant decide, I should have set it as a poll really

I started off a long time ago having a go on a white one like in the pic, and Ithought, yea I want one of those, but when I was loking around I came accross the blue and really thought it looked great! totally confused me

@Micke no I dont have blue guitar so maybe a blue one might be nice ... but wait!! I dont have a white guitar either argghhh!!

Get someone to take a paper and then they put it in their left or right hand, and then you say left or right, if there is a paper it is white if there isn't it is blue, problem solved

just think about looking at that blue for the next 5 years

One more thing: have you seen the actual guitars in the shop? Sometimes colors in pictures are a bit misleading, and the real thing is much better (or worse) when you see it. Just go to the shop, take both in your hands, and let your heart speak.

lol! well, I noticed today that the Blue one has sold out now, so that actually really helps out a lot! I have seen "in the flesh" a white one, it does look very sexy!

I stupidly last night took a little poke around the net and began looking at Strats

I`m still heavily leaning to the White Charvel though

Favorite color is blue, but I would go white as it should not show up smudges and finger prints as much...

well, my birthday was a few weeks ago now, and my wife did get me one

after this thread I was pretty much decided on the white too although I realy liked them both equally so I was not really too concerned which colour she got, when she looked she much prefered the blue one and at that particular point of ordering the white one was out of stock, so she went ahead and ordered me the blue one.

it arrived and I love it! great guitar and good bang for buck! I got the oppotunity to use it "live" almost straight away too

When I get some spare moments I`ll take some proper pics and do a mini review
