Also I guess one of the pioners was definitely Hendrix - it's weird to think that prior to him people didn't really use the electric guitar as the fantastic instrument it is. The word "experimentation" is often used lightly. My definition of experimental are those guys. But...of course there are guys like Eklundh that use extended techniques that qualify as experimental into a context of non experimental music.
