Hey Matt- youve gone gear crazy!
 With regards to tubescreamers, i had a Maxon 09-9 based exactly on the original ibanez ts-808 i think, and it had an authentic tone, but sounded a bit lifeless-a lack of warmth. Even though i dont use much gain the Maxon hardly had any-used it as a mild boost for the Deville. If your looking for alot of gain id look elsewhere (from my experience), if you juts want it as a boost then it should be ok. On another note, for excellent handmade pedals try 'Barber' http://www.humbuckermusic.com/barberpedals.html They are made in USA and you'd have to get it imported but they have great response (small fry pedal) and are quality made. Something like the Direct Drive is an extremely versatile pedal and would do everything from blues to saturated gain. -Ben |

Hi Matt,
I would have thought so. You'll probably be pleasantly surprised with the natural overdrive on the Vox for what you want, but a tubescreamer would probably help things out. It seems youre looking for versatility, i would recommend the Barber Direct Drive very highly, as its got a warm analog sound, but has more than enough drive for rock/metal if you want it.
