The performance is fine. Mix is better than what I remember of your previous stuff but you should look at how you gainstage for recording and mixing. You need to get the gainstaging right from the start since not doing so will end up in a compromised mix.

Hi mate! There are many killer ideas there! Some amazing riffs and killer shred sections. I also agree with Cosmin about the direction of the song. It is related with structure but not necessary to normal pop song structure. There is something lacking regarding the connection between parts and the overall composition that needs to be reviewed. I feel that it would be great if any melody appears more frequently and evolves through the song, or something that is suggested in the first part finally takes form in the end..
I came to mind the song "A change of seasons" by DT. It has lots of parts and weird structure but there is a component that finally connects everything... the same happens with conceptual albums like Metrolpolis 2, Operation mindcrime and The Wall. Does it make sense? -------------------- My lessons

I get what you're saying idk I can't find an exact style that I like to play, and i find it hard to combine the ideas of all the genres of metal i like lol from example things like my dying bride to amon amarth lol hahah that's not a bad thing! It's good to have many different influences. I'm not really talking about style, mostly about a leit motive. Bands like Mr Bungle used to combine lots of style in a song but there is always something that connects the overall idea. A song is like a story, if you read a story that describes lots of different situations and ends without showing any conclusion or connection between them you will think that the author will get back to finish it. -------------------- My lessons

what is gainstage? lol I should probably google that! ... Do look in to it as it's one of the critical issues in getting a good mix. You need to set the gainstage from the start before you attempt to do any other aspect of the mix. Get it wrong and the mix will be compromised from the start and chances are you will end up with a poorly balanced, noisy mix that may also suffer clipping. If you your mix builds noise as you add tracks and parts amd/or you find that you make relatively large changes to fader positions/track levels whilst mixing then you almost certainly have the gainstage wrong. Also, if you are doing the second then you will not be able to really focus on eq'ing as you are changing levels and therefore the perceived spectrum. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. so it's pretty much making sure that you're not clipping once all the tracks are playing together? and making sure the input isn't too much to where it'll clip at at times? No it's more than that. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer.
