Sep 28 2009, 08:28 PM	Learning Rock Star Posts: 502 Joined: 6-February 09 From: israel	ive been practicing some lessosn by marcus lavendell and he uses fingers 1 2 3 a lot, almost never uses pinky for playing. mainly 1 3 4 licks(maybe laso 1 2 4 licks not sure) what do you think about using it like that? is that something individual for him or is it a common recommended technique? I agree (that said, I don't use mine..) I actually tend to reserve it in those cases for fast switches to a lower string further up, or if there's a note I need to stretch for... Many people tend to not use their pinky that much, I would recommend training it though cause it gives you options, weather you want to use them or not is your decision then, but at least you have all options then. It is just like alternate picking vs. economy picking, alternate is cool, economy is cool, and if you can play both you are perfectly prepared for any situation.
