Okey so hear me out..

While on an extremly long train ride I just figured it out. Live backing track radio. When you sit down and say "hey, Im gonna improvise" you choose a key and prepare for it. That's already some preparation right there. How about a radio here on masterclass that would just be on all day randomly selecting backingtracks in different keys and style and you would have to adjust right there on the spot.

And it would save some hassle finding a backin track - all you'd have to do is turn on the backing track radio!
So how bout it? cool.gif

Good idea! Another idea and maybe someone has thought of this, but i would like to post some tracks out there somewhere and collaborate on writing some songs. For example, lets say I wrote a riff or two and posted it with the idea that someone could take it and add something to it and post it back to me. Perhaps a bunch of GMC'ers could write songs in a general forum somewhere. That would be cool!

Yes that's a really cool idea! biggrin.gif We should do a poll and see who is interested and who's got the required equipment - I would love to record some licks on it too!

I have been wanting to do something like this for a long time. I did almost get somthing like this off the ground last year before the forums here were taken down.

I would love this.

Only problem is I cant come up with my own melodies. It starts out by me humming..then after I while I think "hey this sounds ok!" then I stop humming and realises it's the melody of the song that's playin right now. And when I turn the music off I cant come up with any melody at all tongue.gif

And as that wasn't enough my guitar broke last night and even prior to that I couldnt record anything remotely close to "bad quality".

These are fun! But you eed a good guy to step up and be the mix technician.
What you do is put out a 3 to 4 minute backing trcak. Then you break the backing into segments by timeline. Then each participating user is assigned a spot....user A is 0.00 to .30, User B is .30 to .60 etc.
They all e-mail there parts to the mix master, who puts them all back together for one long jam.
We've done a couple at Marcseal.com

The Radio idea is awesome. Should be a little introduction before hand telling you what key the song will be in too.

Another improv solo competition would be sweet too, like the one on Freelicks, I didn't get round to entering that! sad.gif

Well at least you can hum what's on the radio - that's a good thing! wink.gif

Seriously - does anyone feel like being the mix master? Pick n Grin?

Heh heh....I dont know if I have the capability of being the mix master. It gets tricky becuase guys send in different file formats and stuff. I'm not that good at splicing, or keeping the timing correct in a cut and paste.
I'm not sure how it was done.
I can probably find out more though, maybe a I can recruit a volunteer to come in and help us out.
