I have seen yngwie and other guitar gods put there small finger under the fretboard, when playing with there first 3 fingers. I am having a hard time doing this, anyone now a good way to do it?

Well from my own experience i can tell you that it's the best to keep your pinky as close as possible to the fretboard so when you need it - it's there! It's pretty difficult and takes a lot of practice but if you plan to play 4 notes per string stuff - you'll need to work hard on pinky.

I don't think it's something that you need to do. It could very well just be where his pinky happens to end up when he's playing certain things. I don't think it's an intentional technique designed to help play.
