Hi Victor,

This lesson is a good choice for you! There are basically 3 elements that need to be polished here. The first one is Hand Sync, the second is timing, and the third one, guitar tone/sound.

The first two elements are the main things covered by this lesson. It's essential to make your hands go totally tight and synchronised so I recommend you to slow down, use slower backing tracks or metronome, to be able to control both hands and make them go together. Your hands movements look well so I think that it's a matter of practice at a more comfortable tempo.

The same happens with timing. Both elements are totally related to you'll also be able to improve timing if you slow down and practice at a more comfortable tempo, and then increase it gradually.

Regarding your tone, I feel that it has too much drive for this lesson. Less drive will make your guitar sound clearer and better in the mix. It will make your overall playing sound better. Try it and let me know if you need any help with it.

Cool Victor, I think a major problem here is your economy picking - so I adressed it in a new video for you:



You get a 4 from me here, since your sound is pulling down the listening experience and you do not accomplish the technical goals of the lesson.

Your technique is a little rushed which is why its also lacking precision. However I do think with some cleaning up you could get into excellent shape pretty quickly.

Hey Victor!

IUt was a great idea to challenge this lesson. Think of it as a "mile step forward" that need now to take lot of your time and fopcus because it will affect all your future playing. For picking techniques we do not learn a single lesson. We do learn a technique that will later work well in any other stuff you'll go through.


You main audiable problem is time. You are off - especially on the triplets - it seems like you are not familair enough with them to make them fit with the tempo. It is slighly better on 16th notes.

You need to start learning how to focus on accents (playing one per few 3 or 4 notes slightly harder and matching it with the beats in the backign track. The problem with triplet is that it's not supported by any other instrument in the track. It's like a counter-point. That's why you need to focus too match only these notes that to overlay with the drum beats or metronome pulse. with 16th notes triplets it is twice as hard. You need to rememebr that every 3 notes the accent skips from downstroke to an upstroke. So the first 3 notes start perfectly at "1" while another 3 (these with first upstroke) start perfectly at "and" so it like "1-up-down-And-down-up" pattern repeating constantly.

From my experience in 90% cases of beginners problems with triplet is caused by the brain trying to force the "up" accents to be downslanted.

Give yourself some time with metronome before going back to the backign track . Try to first m,anage triplets on the single string with some simple 3-notes-based licks
