Birthmark - Neoclassical Solo For Beginners |
|
Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.
The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

by Emir Hot Lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/neocla..._for_beginners/ Hi instructors, please be as hash as possible. I sincerely would appreciate Emir himself to respond! EDIT: ps. Im not a leftie, video got inverted. I'll sort this before my next REC EDIT 2 : Scratch above line - confused. EDIT 3: Emir, just this feedback alone was worth this months subscription. Rhythm placement 4.3
Cleanness 4 Feel 4.3 Posture 3.8 Sound 3 Ok, there are many things I want to say. The first one is the sound. You need more distortion and probably some other preset for the amp simulator if you're using processor. Your sound has a really light gain and it's too crunchy. This one is maybe good for playing chords but not this kind of solo. You need more sustain for long notes and this sound doesn't allow you that. The next thing is your posture. There are some really strange fingerings that you use. Your 3rd finger is always "inside" when you're playing with 1, 2 and 4. Also you're sometimes using fingers that are not very logical in some situations. Like that little bend on the 5th string on 0:17. You used 2nd finger on the 4th fret and then 1st finger on the 2nd fret. Why not 3rd finger instead of 2nd? That shouldn't be a big deal if everything sounded correctly. Because of that you completely missed a couple of notes later in the solo. Another thing is the vibrato. It's really inconsistent and you're vibrating from the fingers. Vibrato in this style should ALWAYS be from the wrist. In this particular ballad feel on 100bpm you should vibrate in 8th notes feel. When you got into the situation to vibrate on the 1st string with your pinky you started left-right finger movement for vibrato like classical players. That's not going to help you on the electric guitar. If you're on the first string you have to vibrate towards the 2nd string and back, not left and right. Some notes were supposed to be picked but you played legato. That's also an important part. If you don't execute it like it's written in the GP file and the tab then you're making a completely different feel of a phrase. It didn't sound bad but it would have sounded better if you picked those. Overall, I like this take. I can see that you're a talented player but you need to change some habbits that will bother you later when you get to learn some more complex stuff. Good work anyway -------------------- Check out my <a href="https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/instructor/Emir-Hot" target="_blank">Instructor profile</a>
