I just recently completed the longest game I've ever played, not storyline or anything. But a single "round" of gaming. It was in the RTS (Real-Time Strategy) game called "Sins Of A Solar Empire", Which dwarves every game in existence in terms of scale. If you have not played it, breakdown is that you start off with a home planet, and you must conquer the universe (as it always goes with RTS').

So about in the middle of June I started a game with 10 players (5 hard A.I's, 3 Normal, and 1 "unfair" A.I.), It consisted of 7 star systems, each with about 15-20 planets in them, For a grand total of about 135 individual planets. So yeah, it was going to take awhile.

Anyway, about 2 months later - and over 130 hours of gameplay, I finally beat it tonight - And for some reason I am obsseviely proud of myself! laugh.gif

BUT...

Before you think I went all World Of Warcraft on this, 130 hours of gameplay isn't that much when you consider the timespan I played it over is about 1500+ hours (So plenty of guitar was put in there as well!). I played about an hour a day on weekdays, and on weekends maybe 2 or 3 late at night. But for the past 5 days my wife has been gone helping out her great grandmother, So I have tons of free time at night smile.gif

Anyway, I am so happy I finally did this I actually decided to post it, Nerds FTW! cool.gif

First of all felicitations are in order it seems! smile.gif
Not only to your hard earned victory but under those hard conditions you subjected yourself to.
The game itself was unknown to me and I just have checked it out - WOW! This looks really great AND time-consuming.

I just recently have stopped playing World of Warcraft and dived into the worlds of Disciples III and now Dragon Age Origins (which I like very much with my second and not badly skilled character wink.gif )

I was a very big fan of the Masters of Orion game - this one looks like the modern and more complex successor.
To be honest it looks so complex (thus interesting) that I try to avoid it (for the moment smile.gif)

Thanks for letting us know and good luck with your next round! smile.gif smile.gif

Well, the second time I played Final Fantasy VII, and did everything there was to do in the game, all the sidequests, all the bosses etc., I think I clocked in around 200 hours smile.gif And I've played that and the other Final Fantasy games many times laugh.gif

I played a game called Soalria, later renamed to Earth 2025 between -96 and -10 when it was buried. Real people, politics, forming of alliances and pacts and in the end war.
It doesn't really fit the description since it ran repeadedly in rounds of 3 months. But 14 years with a text based online game isn't too bad laugh.gif

Now where the master geek hat?

Congrats man, seems like you survived a hard battle that's for sure smile.gif cool.gif

Talking about time spent on games, I'm not so proud to measure my time playing a MMORPG called Asheron's Call not in hours, nor days, but actual months , meaning when I played 24h that would be measured as a day, and 30 days as a month.

I played AC for about 4 months, which would 4*30*24= 2880 hours. yeah that's right, almost three thousand hours.

Something similar happened to me when I played another more famous but much worse MMORPG, WoW, which I played for 3 months, which would be 2160 hours

This is why I avoid playing MMORPGs from now on!, I love RPGs, and I love playing online, so they become way too addictive for me. now I stick to more simple PS3 games, and try to stay away from computers laugh.gif

Congratz on your geek achievement!

Warning not to start on World of Warcraft though, you can spend a life time on that addicted.
MMORPG and then online multiplayer gaming seems to suck the life from you, if you get hardcore at them with a good group.

Second Life - Rock Star MMORPG Edition anyone? laugh.gif

God, I have a few thousand hours worth of Final Fantasy VII alone, across 4 or 5 PSX memory cards laugh.gif

Ruby Weapon, right outside Golden Saucer was such a pain! By far one of the worst bosses I can remember, Even the legendary Knights Of The Round didn't help too much against him.

I only did about half that for Morrowind, But Oblivion - Now thats a different story. For about a year and a half I was in and out of the hospital with surgeries and stuff and played Oblivion pretty much nonstop! laugh.gif

I dunno. Oblivion was good but overall to generic and it always looked the same in dungeons... there was nothing new to explore because the whole world was build mostly built by a random generator!

Morrowind however was mostly designed by hand, it was way more detailed with secrets and rare items to find even in last spots of the world. I played through the game a couple of times, have solved almost any quest - most of them 2 or 3 times and I discovered secrets and little bugs myself!

I loved the boots of blinding speed, Rare item that made you run intensely fast but limited you to about 5% vision laugh.gif

Plus, using mods to make your jump skill 9999999 was hilarious as you leaped across the entirety of Morrowind laugh.gif

I played MW back in the day, I liked it at first and completed a good part of main quest and mages guild. Just recently I tried Oblivion but it didn't hook me, granted I only played like 4 hours or so. These games are great but I'm more a hack n slash rpg player.

A couple days ago I started playing Sacred 2, and love it. I like killing non stop, doing quests, grinding and constantly getting new armor/weapons/magic/levels to kill bigger stuff and all over again smile.gif

If you liked Baldurs Gate 1, you have to play Baldurs Gate 2! Such an intense Story and beautiful designed charakters. The Best RPG i played.

And do you know the coolest game ever: Jagged Alliance 2? Its not well known i think, but really brilliant and time consuming.
