Today i was thinking of buying a modeling effect, i'm not quite sure how it works yet but it would be awesome to have 32 amps within reach of a single button
i'm trying to create the best home sound i can get, this is my plan:

guitar: gibson les paul strd
amp: marshal stack
modeller : behringer V amp 2
effects : wah wah
recording: not sure yet, should i just put a plug in the computer from the headphone exit, or put a mic at a certain distance from the amp?
computer program: don't know either

We're talking ultimate right? So don't skimp on the recording side! If you get something like a line 6 pod that will do your modelling AND make a fantastic audio interface for recording, way better than your soundcard in all likelyhood. YOu then need to couple it with a decent multitrack recording program - there are a couple fo free ones around, Audacity and Kristal, or if you want something more sophisticated you could start with Cubase LE, and ultimately work up to the full version of Cubase.
