My new Xotic XSC-1 'Caslifornia Classic'. Obviously, it's a Strat.
Lead tone demo with TS variant (Abunai 2) OD.
Bridge pkup with the tone ctrl rolled down to about 7. No fx.

I liked it best when strings hit hardest or on bass notes, made me think maybe a pedal that clips harder (not distortion but a bit more preamp-like than ts) might suit better for such lead approaches.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean but it's probably more me and my technique than it is the od pedal. When I lighten up in my right hand, the tone cleans up (and thins out) a bit. That's kinda my thing though.

The TS type drive while yes cleans nice, it (to me) reduces the attack of sound. Like, when hard picking couldn't make the dynamic musical impact enough I heard from the clean example.

Could be video, mic. etc. but made me thought a different drive pedal could reflect that quality of the guitars tone and your playing better. I'm not sure what pedal though, maybe a klon, blues driver or plimsoul which has the tone pot setuped fat.
