Thanks,

I'm not too bad now, stopped watching the news for the most part, maybe midday headlines and have sorted my work finances out as best as possible for business and staff..

Keep the tips coming folks there may be others struggling.

Cheers

Phil

Taking News breaks is a very good idea imho. I do keep seeing some positive bits about various efforts at a vaccine being rushed through.

I've actually more motivation. I've was asked to record a song or two a week for my church to use for our online meetings.
Some I've just recorded as guitar vocal and mandolin and others a full production of Drums, bass, guitars, synth/piano and vocal tracks.

Coming up with layered guitar parts etc has been fun and of course nailing them is always humbling.
Production and mixing has been a challenge and I have been 'cheating a little with the Waves CLA plugins and using presets.

Having these goals and deadlines has done wonders for me, made me use guitars I haven't played for a while and re-ignited my desire to get better

This is great to hear smile.gif I"m still rebuilding my studio and I'm really looking forward to being able to record again!! Turning off the news actually helped my practice sessions quite a bit.

I'm only watching a small amount of news and definitely NOT before bed. What I'm finding is that if there is any good figures, like the spread declining, they say it quickly and then move to something more negative. Maybe they don't want to say how many are recovering, how much it has slowed etc because they don't want people getting lax.

Most of my stress was/is work-related.

I've had to just cut way back on news as it's just exhausting. Also, both threads here on gmc about corona had gotten a big negative and have been closed which is probably a good thing. smile.gif I hope your work stress lightens up as soon as possible so you can get back to what's important. Guitar! smile.gif

From Homeland Security (of all places).

https://www.the-sun.com/news/723902/coronav...security-study/

(I read the sun for the zeitgeist aspect)

With the current weather we are looking at the 2 mins and 1.5 mins. Double the half life time and it's dead. The difference that "Solar" category makes will most likely be the UV light (something which is used in water sanitation for instance).

Same reason you get a hot fever when ill, heat shock proteins in your body, killing virus. They used to deal with patients by trying to cool their fever down (dealing with the symptoms, in this case the wrong one). Even Paul Offit says not to use ibuprofen, while it's not used in France either. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/...uprofen/608233/

“When you decrease your fever, you’re fooling yourself into thinking you’re actually better,” he said, “when there’s so much information showing that you can prolong and worsen illnesses by treating fever.”

Health benefits of Saunas are well known. If you get ill in winter, take 4000iu (or more) Vitamin D per day, vitamin C at 5grams (or more) per day, 25mg zinc a day. If you deal with a virus early on before it moves from the nasal area (and into lungs for instance) you can save yourself hassle.

Thankyou for finding it interesting. I used to attend medical conferences.

This one is specifically about vit D in relation to COVID19 https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/85596 (the comments on there mostly support vit D too). I take 4000iu a day in winter. None in the summer if I get sunlight exposure.

Unfortunately stress has a negative effect on the immune system, but this can be counteracted with exercise, which also promotes natural killer cells. If not accustomed to exercise you might have to force yourself at first "going through the motions". After a few days of little exercise then doing some my body "whines" a bit at first until it "wakes up" to it.

This study is basically saying that older folk who exercise have immune systems comparable to the young https://academic.oup.com/geronj/article-abs...edFrom=fulltext

Lastly massage has the double benefit of relieving stress and improving the immune system. I used to pay a good masseur now and then, afterwards my body felt like heaven inside. During lockdown you might need to just share doing it to each other with someone you live with. https://www.livescience.com/34910-massage-b...tem-100908.html

Good. I like that you find it useful info.

https://news.columbia.edu/ultraviolet-techn...vid-19-UV-light

"Scientists have known for decades that broad-spectrum, germicidal UV light has the capacity to kill microbes. Hospitals and laboratories often use UV light to sterilize tools and other equipment."

UV could be used in storage cupboards between use I suppose, sports gear, bowling balls, bowling shoes, inside cash tills, supermarkets during closing hours etc.

They still don't use copper handles in hospitals https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-...-hospitals.html

Copper door handles and taps kill 95% of superbugs

That said, if you where worried about virus / germs and happened to be fitting new door handles in your home, copper might be good.

I take 5000UI Vit D3 even with the weather we have here in Ireland at the moment the amount of absorption from the sun is fairly minimal

Excellent. Everyone should take heed of that. Here's a shocker (albeit on the lines of what we already knew)....

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/202...4.24.20075838v1

100% of ICU patients less than 75 years old had VDI (vitamin D insufficiency)

Yes, that's all people under the age of 75 that ended up in an Intense Care Unit had insufficient vitamin D levels.....!!!!!
