ok so here's the deal i currently have a line6 toneport gx with gearbox software. i dont really like it and am looking for something new as far as digital playing goes but i also want something that can work well in a live situation too. so far i've been looking at the line6 PODs and Guitar Rig 3 but would like to hear about any other devices that might work out in this situation. i dont really like how you really have to work hard just to get a decent tone out of line6 equipment but i like how you can just plug directly into an amp to play live, and i like GR3 because it does'nt seem that hard to get a good tone out of it and it has a pedal and potential to be used live but i would have to buy a laptop and i hear that using digital stuff live is'nt a very safe bet. so my question is: whats the best thing out there thats easy to use, has good tones, and can be used both to record and be used live? lets say price is'nt an issue what would yall recomend to help me solve my problem.

Whats up man, if price is'nt an issue, you should consider putting together a nice rack system. I don't know alot about the configs of a rack but do know you should start with a good pre-amp and power amp. Then a good speaker configuration. After that you can add the effects and recording interface. I'm sure members with better knowledge and advice will chime in soon! smile.gif There's enough products on the market to make youre head spin. blink.gif

Now I'm using POD XT Live to play live because is easy to carrie, sounds goods and I have all the presets that I need.
It's the easiest way in my opinion.
And if you want it for your recordings it sounds amazing smile.gif

up until several months ago I had never been a fan of digital gear, exactly as you said, I`ve found it difficult to get decent tones for both live and recording, the POD XT Live however is fantastic piece of kit, I get the same tones live as I do for recording, its great for both situations, so much so the other guitarist in my band has decided to buy one as he cant believe how great it sounds and how simple it is to use, I cant recomend it enough smile.gif

I think they made a huge improvement with the POD X3 Live. I wasn't a fan of the XT Live. But then again I'd never play a gig with digital modelers

I think T.C. Electronic makes some very nice gear. Check out their rack processors like G-major and G-Force. You will need a MIDI controller.
