Hissing Overdriven Halfstack, Noise Reduction Pedal Needed?

So... With an overdrive in front of my Marshall clone I am standing in front of a hissing monster.

I'm not used to that. I've been using modelers for so long I am spoiled by how silent they are.

I imagine I need a noise reduction pedal. Some sort of gate?

This one seems highly regarded.

Is this what I use to silence my rig when I mute the strings?

I'm new to this kind of thing. Pedals and running overdrive into an already higher gain amp...
