I moved it and changed the title so its not as bad.

Anyway, about the band, the name didnt put me off so much as the music did, Im used to way worst names than that. The song Chariot or whatever is just one riff pretty much, and the guitar sound is really dry, and the singer sounds too.....Meh, I dont know, not my thing.

its a crappy version of Dying Fetus. Its pretty much a rip-off name as well.

band names are band names, its just like song titles, i really don't care so long as the band is good, when you dive into the areas of death metal you find many strange named bands, to make a list:

Dying Fetus
Cannible Corpse
Putrid Pile
Braindrill
... if i had the energy the list could go on and on
the point i am trying to make is that no matter how immature the members of the band may be in regards to their band name i do not think this is a right to ignore their musical capabilities

I can only agree.

I'm some what ambivalent about the name. As a parent and human I don't like it - and we lost a child in child birth so like Praetorian it kind of sticks in my throat. Having said that I also realise that in some areas of music bands often see it as part of their raison d'etre to be 'controversial' and Smikey makes a good point about the need to judge them musically against others of their genre. Also, like others have pointed out, they aren't the only - or indeed first, band to have a 'controversial' name. However all in all, for me personally, I kind of find the courting controversy thing is a bit childish and lame - if you are really good why do this at all make the headlines on your musical merits instead. But that's just my opinion smile.gif .

BTW - it all kind of reminds me of an on-going argument I have with my wife regarding artists like Tracy Emin, The Chapman Brothers etc who are 'controversial'. She argues that we need to prevent our little girl from seeing their works when we take her to art galleries as it raises uncomfortable questions that she is too young to deal with. My take on it is a 'so what' about the subject matter and more is it 'good' or 'bad' art - arguably art is supposed to make us uncomfortable and question ourselves? And if it's bad, well why waste time on it at all?

Cheers,
Tony
