Hey there Teo! Welcome to your personal, very own, mentoring thread. Let's start with you telling me about your goals and achievements so far, musically and guitaristically if we may say so

Well, I only started playing about a year ago, I think I progressed quite a lot from there. I know pentatonic and basic minor/major scales, and I know some other theory aswell. I don't really concentrate on advanced lead techniques as I'm mainly a rhythm guitarist.
My biggest fear is timing. I mean I mostly stay true to the rhythm, but I somehow always fear that I'm not doing so.
My favourite genre is speed-power metal (Blind Guardian) so I want to develop in that direction, and of course I want to write my own music, so I need to learn a lot more theory, and I have to greatly improve my muical ear so I can play what I hear in my head
I don't know if it's a problem but I'dont have any proper recording equipment, only a camera.

Good morning Teo
the camera is very good for now
I wanted to ask you, which is your favorite lesson at GMC so far? If it's rhythm based we can start from there. Let's make things fun and interesting to learn, so progress will creep up without you knowing it
Let me know so we can get to rock n roll right away
all the best

Well, is there nothing you like which you also feel you could tackle and master?
If not, I will take the liberty of suggesting something

I'm awaiting your suggestion

My friend, I would suggest on which I find pretty interesting and easy to tackle for starters I was thinking about this one:
http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Power_Chords_Workout/ it focuses on power chord position shifting which is very important!
My suggestion would be to focus on this one and make it sound as tight as possible! What say you my friend?

So, today my camera broke
Therfore I can't record the lesson you recommended.
Maybe I can send you some of my own stuff in guitarpro format, so you can give me a little feedback.

Goodmorning there! When you push the reply button somewhere in the lower right part, under the text box where you usually write the message you want to post, there's this upload box
if you're having problems, I'll provide a screenshot
let me know, k?

Hmmm, I think you should send a PM to Bogdan - he is the man who can help out with the technical problems around the site
please let me know when it's done.

Hey mate, having trouble opening it with GP 5 I thought it would be possible. Can you make a tab out of it? or transform it into a gp5 readable file please?

I converted it to gp5, however I can't change settings that way, so I recommend you turn the distortion down before listening to it, 'cause it's
way up in the preset.

Of course, if you would help me.

Is it a free software?

Yep! Check this out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18Kh2LB7K_E&feature=player_embedded
this little vid helps out A LOT
watch it and let me know what you think
We can take it from there
Ok, but don't you think this "song" needs some editing, or organizing?
And also I guess it would need some decent bass lines and drums.
Anyway I'll download the softwares mentioned in Ivan's video and I'll mess around with them for while

but this is where I come in
we'll talk about it tomorrow, right now, I want my bed

How are you faring with the software exploration, Teo? I wanted to suggest a few ideas:
1) Try to figure out a song structure - do you already have this in mind?
2) We should create a drum and bass structure for every distinct part you have so far
After this we can move on to the next step
what do you think?

I couldn't get so far with the softwares, I downloaded them and I converted some guitarpro fiels to MIDI ones, and imported them to Reaper, but I can't get any sound out of it
I guess I need some help with the song structure. I know there should be intro, verse, bridge, chorus etc. but I don't really know how should they be formed.
I can perhaps try and make a little more complex bass lines, although I'm not sure if I know how bass lines are usually formed.
I'm a total dummy about drums. I can't read or write drum-sheet music, so I can't program drums at all

Mornin' Teo
I'll take care of the drums and bass for ya man
that's what I was referring to when I said drum and bass structures
Are you comfortable with this? First time, I'll do it and tell you how it's done and then I'll help you out to get things going with your skills in that area

That would be great, Cosmin. Do you have any advice about the song structure?

Hey Teo, let's go for the classic to begin with: Intro, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Mid/ solo, Chorus and outro if needed. We should work this from ground up till you get comfy with writing
now, I got to fix some stuff around the PC and tomorrow we can get to writing drums for each part - I'll try to keep it simple in order for you to understand easily, k?
all the best
