Thanks for this recommendation, I didn't know about the movie and I just watched the trailer and it looks very interesting.
I think all guitarists will find a strange satisfaction in the scene where guy slaps the drummer and says "Were you rushing or dragging?" biggrin.gif Sorry for the spoiler, but that is in the trailer so I guess no harm done smile.gif

When it comes to movies, I have recently watched Interstellar and I'm still under impression by the movie. It's been a long time since I felt I have watched such an epic movie. Really well done.

Intersteller was the latest movie before I watched whiplash smile.gif yeah it was good! for sometime now I haven't been going to the movies much and looking for recommendations from friends with similar taste rather than whats hip.

For Whiplash, I got curious by reading comments on other guitar forums. For now I'll just say it was like watching a karate kid movie when I was a child smile.gif

I loved whiplash, I came away thinking 'I don't practice hard enough!'

I think every musician that takes their craft seriously will enjoy it.

I've just checked the trailer and it looks really interesting to see. Maybe that's the new way of teaching during this new year at GMC. tongue.gif

Saw the film a couple weeks ago. It was amazing and the soundtrack was just gorgeous! The topic discussed in the movie is very interesting, especially for musicians.
For those who watched.
Spoiler:
Do you agree with Fletcher's idea and methods? Do you think that a teacher should push you as hard as possible? Are there no two words more harmful than "Good job"? huh.gif
I just loved Fletcher and all the cunning ways he used to mock his students laugh.gif A teacher should do everything necessary to get the most out of a student, as long as the student doesn't get discouraged. I agree, maybe true Charlie Parker would never get discouraged, but sometimes carrot works better than a stick, doesn't it? In my opiinon, there should be a unic approach to every student, someone needs to be pushed, someone needs to be pulled. For me, I would love to have some lessons with Fletcher biggrin.gif

Finally I saw the movie yesterday smile.gif Wow....it was more than awesome!!!!

I would love this kind of teacher. His method will never fail with a student which has potential. When you wish to be the best one, you will never become discouraged with a teacher like this. On the contrary, when he will say that you made something good you will feel a greater joy.
What he said about "There are no two words in the English language more harmful than good job" made me to think a lot wink.gif I'm sure that I will never forget these words.

Finally watched this movie and WOW - that was inspiring! smile.gif
The movie was really well done and I loved the music. Also, I like how believable everything is including playing as it can look lame when actors pretend to play instruments in movies. I think that this movie will be very inspiring to any musician as it really shows how much you need to practice and focus if you want to be the best in the craft. As Mertay said - it's karate kid for musicians smile.gif
